The Eagles are 0-2 in this preseason; they lost to the New England Patriots 42-35, but failed to understand how to defend with the new rules.
“You’re just handing people first downs,” head coach Chip Kelly said. “We better figure it out. And, as I said earlier, whichever team ends up being the most disciplined team from penalties standpoint (is) going to be at a big advantage in this league. It’s a challenge to everybody.”
“We still have some things to get better at,” Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans said, “but that’s what preseason is for.”
The Steelers are 1-1 in the preseason; they beat the Buffalo Bills 19-16 with QB Ben Roethlisberger finding Antonio Brown for a 76-yard TD. “It was a great read by Ben,” Brown said. “The defensive back got caught up with another guy. Ben hit me in the spot, and I was able to get up to speed and turn the corner.”
Steelers’ head coach Mike Tomlin is 20-11 in the preseason, and Eagles Chip Kelly is 2-4 in two seasons.
