Football is back and NFL fans surely are fired up in anticipation of Week 1 getting here. The season indeed is about to get started soon, and some last-minute roster changes sure have people talking. On top of that, we’ve seen the Super Bowl betting odds change up a bit, with the Los Angeles Rams still being the favorites. However, a major addition on defense (more on that below) has supporters buzzing.

However, the Rams aren’t the only serious contenders, and let’s not forget that the Seattle Seahawks are the reigning champions. With all of that said, Week 1 is set to get started next week, and plenty of squads will be ready to make a statement here in the near future. In this piece, we’ve got you covered with several key updates across the league, while also keeping up with the latest NFL betting trends as well.

The biggest NFL betting storylines this week

• As we mentioned above, the Rams pulled off a bit of a shocker, with All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald deciding to come out of retirement to play one last season with the Rams. This is major news, as he will now be featured in a pass-rush that also includes Myles Garrett. The Rams pulled off the monster trade for Garrett this offseason, and adding Donald is truly out of this world.
• As you might have been able to guess, the Rams’ Super Bowl odds have improved handsomely with Donald now joining the team again. Previously, the Rams were +550 to win the Super Bowl title this season. However, now that Donald is back in the mix, those odds have improved to +500. With a dominant performance in Week 1, we could end up seeing those odds improve once again too.
• Meanwhile in the NFC East, a lot has been said about the work the New York Giants are putting in on both sides of the ball. In a pleasant surprise, Odell Beckham Jr. was signed to a one-year deal, though it was up in the air if he was going to make the 53-man roster or not. In some great news for NY fans, he did end up making the Week 1 roster, which means he’ll be an outside option for Jaxson Dart this season.
• In some off-the-field drama, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were unable to agree to a contract extension with QB Baker Mayfield. With this, Mayfield is now playing out the final year of his three-year contract, meaning he could leave as a free agent next offseason. Mayfield is not happy about this, and there’s some worry among the fanbase that this issue could end up impacting his play. That would not be good for NFL Playoffs betting if the Bucs end up missing out.

Biggest futures, outright and win total moves this month in the NFL

• • In terms of NFL betting analysis, it’s not a surprise to say that a lot of money has been coming in on the Rams to win the Super Bowl. Again, we can’t overstate just how big of a return Donald is for this defense. He’s without question one of the best pass-rushers of all time, and he’ll be a Hall of Famer within the next 10 years. This could be a year to remember for the Rams.
  • Elsewhere, the current win total number for the Cincinnati Bengals sure has people talking. The over/under for wins per the top Vegas sportsbooks has been set at 9.5, with -165 NFL betting odds for the over. Normally, people would be all-in on a Joe Burrow-led squad to flirt with 10 wins and go on a deep run in the postseason, but Cincinnati’s defense is still a concern. The offense is stacked, but the defense could hold this team back a little.
  • There’s also been some movement for the Dallas Cowboys, with the over/under of 8.5 wins holding +160 odds for the over. This is going to be a pivotal year for Dak Prescott and Dallas, as fans are sick and tired of this team underachieving. Anything less than 9-10 wins and a postseason trip would be unacceptable for Jerry Jones, though plenty of people are still hoping a trip to the Super Bowl could be on the way.

Most bet NFL props and markets

With the season just around the corner, there’s of course going to be a ton of focus on Aaron Rodgers, as he has made it clear that this will be his last season in the league. It’s still a bit strange that he’s not closing things out with the Packers, but he wants to make a statement now that he’s still running the show for the Steelers. And with that, people are going to be following his campaign quite closely, with sports betting numbers set to be big.

As you might have been able to guess, countless bets are being placed on his passing yards total for 2026. Per sportsbooks, the over/under has been set at 3,050 yards, with -115 odds for both. While Pittsburgh is known for focusing on the ground game, this team will only go as far as Rodgers can take it. For his career, he has thrown for more than 3,050 yards in every full season that he’s been the starter. Barring an injury or a shocker, he’s expected to hit the over there.

That’s not the only major focus for the different NFL prop betting options that people are focusing on, as countless eyes remain on rookie running back Jeremiyah Love. The first-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals is dealing with a minor ankle injury, but the hope is that he’ll be close to 100 percent for the season-opener. Regardless, a strong season should be on the way for him, but how many yards will he finish with?

That continues to be a hot topic of conversation, as the over/under has been set at 825 yards, with -110 odds for both. While potentially not reaching 1,000 yards might be disappointing, the Cardinals don’t want to put too much pressure on the young RB from the start. There are veterans on the roster who can help with the workload too. It’ll be interesting to see if he can flirt with 1,000 yards or not by the end of the season, but fans will surely be monitoring his workload closely once the season begins.

NFL betting trends bettors are watching

As for some of the top NFL betting trends right now, the Rams winning the Super Bowl is surely at the top of the list. However, there’s also a growing belief in the Seattle Seahawks to take down the New England Patriots in the season-opener on Sept. 9. This is a matchup that plenty of people can’t wait for, as it will be the official rematch of the Super Bowl from last season, which Seattle went on to win.

On top of that, in terms of Week 1 bets, plenty of action is going on the Vikings to stun the Packers a little bit, although that game is in Minnesota. A reason why some people think Green Bay will cruise to a win is because of Jordan Love being locked in as the starting quarterback. Love is facing a pivotal season, while there remains some uncertainty on how the position will look for Minnesota this year.

While JJ McCarthy was recently a first-round pick for the Vikings, he’s not going to start against Green Bay, as fellow former first-round pick Kyler Murray is going to lead the offense out onto the field. Only time will tell if Murray can get his career back going in the right direction, as the pressure will be on for him to deliver with the Vikings against the Packers in what’s set to be a fun rivalry game.

What could move NFL odds next?

Now that the preseason is in the books, it’s time for these teams to take the regular season field. However, what could move the odds at the last minute is some final position battles being locked up. This is the case for Atlanta, as it is yet to announce a starting quarterback. That honor will go to either Michael Penix Jr. or Tua Tagovailoa. Looking at things as a whole, though, the division odds aren’t expected to change much until after Week 1 comes and goes.
