After a bye week, Peyton Manning will try to continue with his incredible rhythm as the Denver
Broncos host the New Orleans Saints, in the NFL game of the week, this Sunday at 8:20 PM ET.
Manning and the Broncos last outding was outstanding, at least the last two quarters where
they were able to come from behind and beat the Chargers 35-24. He has thrown over 900
yards on his last three games.
“He is a football genius,” said interin coach Joe Vitt. “He understands defenses, alignments and
pre-snap reads. When you talk about the skill level of quarterbacks there needs to be three
characteristics and he has all three.
“He is tough, smart and accurate. He is also one of those players, a lot like Drew, that makes
other people around him accountable and makes other people around him better”.
“I’m certainly not a miracle worker,” Vitt said. “I’m humble to be back here. I met with
(Spagnuolo on Monday) morning, and we know there are things we can do better from a
coaching standpoint and from a players’ standpoint and from a schematic standpoint”.
The Saints need to be better on defense to face Manning, especially considering they are the
worst in the NFL in total defense.
“We’re studying it and trying hard to get off to a better start,” Manning said. “This would be a
great week to do it. This is not a team you want to fall behind because they have potential to
keep scoring, keep extending that lead”.
The Broncos are 6 point favorites, and despite Drew Brees is also having a tremendous year,
the Saints defense is atrocious.
