Two teams that had an exceptionally good week 2 will face each other on Thursday night football to see if they can build momentum, as the NY Giants and the Carolina clash at Bank of America Stadium at 8:20 PM ET.
The oddsmakers have the NY Giants as small favorites of -1.5 points; the game total is set at 51.5.
The Giants had a poor half of a game against the Tampa Bay Bucs, but came back to beat them 41-34. In fact, Eli Manning threw for 510 yards, 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions and helped his squad to scored 25 points alone in the fourth quarter.
“Eli hung in. He made a couple of bad plays, but he didn’t get discouraged,” coach Tom Coughlin said. “We just kept talking about the character of this team and we finally made some plays and came back”.
“I told some of our young players, you’ve played in big games in college, but this is something else,” Giants defensive captain Justin Tuck said. “This is what you live for. We’d have liked to play better, but if I was a fan at the game and not so close, I would have enjoyed it”.
The Panthers smashed the Saints 35-27 with Cam Newton throwing for 253 yards and he also ran for a career-high 71 yards. “The way we responded as a team this week was outstanding,” Coach Ron Rivera said. “I think the attitude, the effort was great”.
Carolina ran for 219 yards; 209 more than what they recorded in week one against the Bucs.
Consider the Giants are 33-17 ATS on the road since 2006, but they failed to cover in the two games of this 2012 season.
These two teams have met five times since 2006; the Giants have won four of those five, but you need to consider they three of those matches were in New York.
