Larson and Byron joint favorites to win the 2024 Go Bowling at The Glen

The 2024 Cup Series playoffs continue with the Go Bowling at The Glen on Sunday. Kyle Larson (+550) and the 2023 winner William Byron (+550) are joint favorites to win. Also among the favorites is road specialist Shane van Gisbergen. We will tell you who to put your money on in our latest NASCAR betting picks.

  • What: Go Bowling at The Glen
  • Where: Watkins Glen International, Dix, New York
  • When: Sunday, September 15th, 2024
  • Time: 3 pm ET
  • Laps: 90
  • Distance: 220 Miles

The big picture

The Go Bowling at The Glen is the second Round of 16 race of the 2024 playoffs.

The Watkins Glen International course will present different challenges to drivers. The road circuit features seven turns, and up to 141 feet of elevation change.

The drivers will have to complete 90 laps of the 2.45-mile-long road circuit, covering 220 miles in total.

William Byron won here 12 months ago. If he can repeat his win from 2023, he will secure safe passage to the Round of 12 alongside Joey Logano, who booked his spot with a win at the Quaker State 400 last Sunday.

It’s hard to fathom how they do it, but Team Penske seems to know the perfect time to arrive at a playoff party.

Joey Logano won the Cup Series title in 2022, and his teammate Ryan Blaney won last season. On Sunday, they took advantage of an overtime restart to finish first and third in Atlanta.

The win for Logano sees him through to the next stage. Blaney’s third place sees him well positioned to also make it through to the Round of 12.

The big losers last Sunday were Kyle Larson, Chase Briscoe, and Denny Hamlin.

The No.1 seed Larson suffered a DNF after hitting the outside wall in Turn 2. The impact saw him hit by Chase Briscoe.

In the bigger picture, Larson dropped from top of the points table down to 10th.

Things look even worse for Briscoe. He was already in 13th place. But after his DNF, he now finds himself in 16th position, 20 points below the cut line.

As for Denny Hamlin, he endured a torrid day, eventually finishing in 24th place. Hamlin now finds himself 11th in the points table.

NASCAR Go Bowling at the Glen Winner Betting

The joint favorites to win the Go Bowling at The Glen are Kyle Larson and William Byron. Both are +550 on the money line.

The reason why Bryon is in the frame with the best NASCAR betting sites is because he won this race in 2023.

As for Kyle Larson, the winner of this race in 2021 and 2022 is in a spot of bother after last Sunday’s fiasco.

The bookmakers believe that when Larson needs a result, he gets a result. He certainly can’t afford any more slip-ups and needs to score heavily this weekend to move himself away from the cut line.

Third in the betting is Shane van Gisbergen at +650. Van Gisbergen isn’t involved in the Cup Series playoffs, but with the Glen a road circuit, he has a genuine chance to win the race.

Tyler Reddick (+750) and Chase Elliott (+800) are the only other drivers priced under +1000 to win the race.

Betting to win the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series

Last Sunday’s Quaker State 400 race blew the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series championship wide open.

It also had an impact on the betting to win the championship – as we now have a new favorite.

After his fourth-place finish in Atlanta, Christopher Bell is the new favorite to win the NASCAR Cup Series championship at +400.

Kyle Larson is the second favorite at +450, and Denny Hamlin is third at +500.

There have also been changes behind the top three. After his win at Atlanta, Ryan Blaney is now the fourth favorite at +600.

Blaney is closely followed by Tyler Reddick and William Byron at +650Joey Logano is up to +1200, with Chase Elliott at +1400.

Moving in the opposite direction is Martin Truex Jr., who has drifted to +3000 after his DNF at the Quaker.

2024 Go Bowling at The Glen Winner Betting Picks and Predictions

A Hendrick Motorsports driver has won the last five editions of this race held at The Glen.

William Byron won in 2023. He followed on from back-to-back wins by Kyle Larson in 2021 and 2022.

Before Larson, Chase Elliott went back-to-back in 2018 and 2019 (the race wasn’t held on this circuit in 2020).

The obvious pick is for any Hendrick Motorsports driver to win at +150. We are going with that pick, as it would be crazy not to.

But for an alternative betting pick, we like the look of AJ Allmendinger.

His stats at The Glen stack up. He finished fourth here last year, and second in 2022. He clearly knows how to drive this circuit.

To finish in the top three, the Dinger is +400. To win, he is +1200 – a wager on AJ Allmendinger to win looks worth the risk.
