The NASCAR roadshow moves to Michigan this week for the 23rd race of the season. And, after another crazy race last Sunday at Indianapolis, what does this week have in store? Here we attempt to give you the heads up with our FireKeepers Casino 400 free NASCAR betting picks.
What Happened Last Week?
After all the chaos and mayhem at turn 1 last weekend, it was Tyler Reddick who kept his cool and emerged with the victory. It was Reddick’s second victory of the season, and in the month, having also won the Kwik Trip 250 at Wisconsin on July 3rd.

Most of the big names missed out last Sunday with Chase Elliott down in 16th place, and his Hendrick teammate Kyle Larson recording his fifth DNF of the season.
Of Chase Elliott’s main rivals in the points table, only really Joey Logano who finished 6th managed to claw back any ground on the 2023 Cup Series betting favorite. Elliott sits on 821 points, 129 ahead of Chastain in second (692), and 184 clear of Logano in third (637).
As a result of this, nothing has changed in the betting to be the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series champion. Well, with the favorite, at least. Chase Elliott was the +400 favorite before last Sunday’s race, and he still is, and at the same odds with the best online sportsbooks.
There has been some movement behind Elliott. BetOnline now makes Ross Chastain second in the betting at +650, with Kyle Busch at +675. Both drivers are ahead of Kyle Larson, who is now the fourth favorite. Although, his odds have remained the same at +700.
FireKeepers 400; All You Need To Know
Due to its substantial length of 2 miles, the D-shaped circuit at Michigan is widely regarded as the fastest track on the NASCAR roster. Its long straights and wide corners leave plenty of space for pure racing, meaning fans can feast on the adrenaline-fueled action.

Last year’s winner was Ryan Blaney. The Team Penske driver is +1200 to defend his title. Before that, Kevin Harvick won three years in succession, and this followed back-to-back wins for Kyle Larson in 2016 and 2017. Except for Larson, these records don’t seem to be reflected in the betting for this year’s race.
Who is the Favorite to win the FireKeepers Casino 400?
Yet again, no prizes for guessing that it’s Chase Elliott who is the favorite to win the 2022 FireKeepers Casino 400. Elliott is +600 with BetOnline to register another podium top position to add to the four he already has this season.
It’s tight in the betting for this race though. The best NASCAR betting sites have Kyle’s Busch (+650) and Larson (+700) not far behind Elliott.
Denny Hamlin is next at +750, with Ross Chastain at +900. The rest are all double-figure odds after that, and that is maybe where some better value could be found.

FireKeepers Casino 400 Betting Picks
Now it’s time to look at some NASCAR betting picks for Sunday’s race.
Where do we go this week? Do we follow the form, which shows that Chase Elliott and Tyler Reddick have both won twice in July? Or do we look at past winners, which paint an impressive picture for Kyle Larson and Kevin Harvick in particular?
At +600, Elliott is appealing. As well as having won twice in July, and three times in the past six races, Elliott has been the outstanding driver in 2022 and leads the points table, and has the most wins with four.
It may be the same every week, but Elliott is impossible to ignore and I have to make him one of my betting picks.
Elsewhere, and I’m going for a combination of form and history, and this means I’m looking at Kevin Harvick to win.
It’s a no-brainer really, he’s won here in 2018, 2019, and 2020. It’s one of those bets at +2500, that if we don’t put on, we end up kicking ourselves – extremely hard – if Harvick wins.
I also think with a guy with a record like that at this circuit, he could be worth a bet on a top finishing position. Therefore I’m also going for Kevin Harvick to finish in the top 5 at +350. If this bet comes off, it pays for all our weekend NASCAR wagers.
Finally, I’m going back to form. Tyler Reddick is the man of the moment, having had two wins in July. As Chase Elliott has shown, even after a crazy season like we’ve had in NASCAR this season, good form does exist!
So with that in mind, I’m making Tyler Reddick at +1200 my final NASCAR betting pick for the FireKeepers Casino 400.
