2023 NASCAR Cup Series Grant Park 220 betting picks
Chase Elliott
Chase Elliott served out his one-race suspension ahead of the road race in Sonoma. He finished that race in fifth place. Last week, he picked up a fourth-place finish on the intermediate course in Nashville.
Elliott, the driver of the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, has 18 career wins. Seven of those victories have come on road courses, and since the Grant Park 220 is in the same ballpark as a road course, Elliott is one of the favorites to win the first NASCAR Cup Series street race.
Elliott is currently in 25th place in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series point standings. He is still looking for his first win in 2023 after picking up five victories in 2022.
Martin Truex Jr
The driver of the No. 19 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing, Martin Truex Jr. is performing at a high level as of late. Truex has finished no lower than fifth in his past four outings and is coming off a win in Sonoma and a runner-up finish in Nashville. With his recent success, Truex is in the points lead in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series with 576, 28 points ahead of William Byron. All told, Truex has two wins, six top-five finishes and nine top-10 finishes this year. His 484 laps lead on the year put him in third place in that category.
Truex has five career wins on road courses. He has finished in the top five 14 times during NASCAR road races.
Kyle Larson
The driver of the No. 5 car, Kyle Larson, is coming off another outstanding performance in Nashville. After winning the Ally 400 in 2021, he finished in fourth in 2022 and fifth last week. Larson has had a great run in his past three outings. In addition to his performance last week, he has picked up a fourth in Illinois and finished in eighth at Sonoma.
Larson is 9th in points in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Standings with 475. He has two wins in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series competition, and five seven top-five finishes this year.
Larson has four road race wins during his NASCAR Cup Series career, and eight top-five road curse finishes.
