Early money is on Philly
After opening as a pick’em, money poured in on the Eagles early. At the time of writing, Philadelphia is a 2.0-point favorite with an over-under of 49.5 points. Nick Siriani’s club still hasn’t been tested in the postseason after annihilating the Niners 31-7 on Sunday. Rookie Brock Purdy left the NFC Championship with an elbow injury, only to be forced back into action when his replacement, Josh Johnson, suffered a concussion.
Before leaving, Johnson handed Philly a 21-7 lead by coughing up a fumble in his own end. Trailing with no one to throw the ball, Kyle Shanahan had Purdy hand off repeatedly in a blowout loss that was marred by 49ers’ penalties. The Eagles are now headed back to the big game five years after winning their first Super Bowl title.

Mahomes’ greatness on display
Kansas City is in the Super Bowl for the third time in the past four years after a nail-biting 23-20 victory over Cincinnati. Overcoming a high-ankle sprain, Patrick Mahomes passed for 326 yards and two touchdowns in “Burrowhead”. Notwithstanding a third-quarter fumble, Mahomes was simply magnificent. And Steve Spagnuolo’s defense came to play, sacking Burrow five times and intercepting him twice.
The Bengals entered the AFC Championship with unbelievable swagger and confidence. But, the Cincinnati mayor should be voted out of office for all the extra motivation he handed the Chiefs this week. Travis Kelce said it best in his postgame interview: “Hey I’ve got some wise words for that Cincinnati mayor. Know your role, and shut your mouth, you jabroni.“
Kansas City vs Cincinnati
How do these two clubs stack up? Kansas City led the NFL in scoring with 28.2 points per game while Philadelphia finished third (28.1 ppg). Meanwhile, the Green Birds’ have the league’s second-best defense, allowing only 301.5 yards per game. Thankfully, Patrick Mahomes’ ankle will have two weeks to heal up as Eagles’ 70 regular-season sacks led the NFL this season.
Steve Spagnuolo’s defense finished second in sacks (55) and is a top ten unit against the run. But, Philly’s run game is almost impossible to stop. They racked up 148 yards and three touchdowns on the ground against SF’s top-rated run defense on Sunday. That included Hurts’ 15th rushing touchdown of the campaign, the most by a QB in NFL history.

A victory in Arizona would make Mahomes the ninth quarterback in NFL history to have multiple Super Bowl titles. He could also become the first player since Kurt Warner in 1999 to to win the NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP in the same season.
While it won’t be easy against a deep Eagles team with playmakers on both sides of the ball, we think Mahomes and Andy Reid will find a way to win their second championship in the past four years.
Take the Chiefs and the OVER.
Final Score Prediction: Kansas City 31, Philadelphia 27
