Argos favored on the road

Toronto is a 5.5-point road favorite in Montreal in Week 6. The reigning Grey Cup champions are averaging 40 points per game this season while no other club is above 30. With dual-threat quarterback Chad Kelly content to keep the ball on the ground, the Argos have nine rushing touchdowns in three contests and lead the CFL in rushing yards per game (136.7).

The Alouettes are coming off a 35-19 road loss to the BC Lions. In Week 4, they were also crushed by the Blue Bombers 17-3 at home. Montreal has put up only 22 points in the past two games, allowing a league-leading 22 sacks. There’s no reason to think Cody Fajardo will be able to trade points with Kelly. Take the Boatmen to cover.

RedBlacks vs Blue Bombers

Ottawa is a 9.5-point road underdog to the Bombers on Saturday. They’re coming off a devastating 21-13 road loss to the previously winless Tiger-Cats. Not only did the RedBlacks (1-3) lose on the game’s final play. They lost Jeremiah Masoli to another season-ending injury exactly one year after he went down for all of the 2022 season.

Making his first CFL start, rookie QB Dustin Crum will face a Winnipeg (4-1) defense that has only allowed 14 points and one TD in their past two games. Big Blue has won won five-in-a-row against Ottawa and eight of their past nine. Zach Collaros and the Bombers will cruise in the nation’s capital.

Roughriders vs Stampeders

Saskatchewan is a 1.5-point home chalk against the Stampeders on Saturday night. The Roughriders (3-1) came away with a 29-26 overtime road victory against their Western rivals back in Week 3. After both teams enjoyed byes in Week 4, the Green and White squeaked out a 12-11 home win over the 0-5 Edmonton Elks last Thursday. Meanwhile, Calgary (1-3) fell to Winnipeg 24-11.

After losing three of their last four, Calgary should be the more desperate team in Week 6. And they are 11-2-1 against-the-spread in their last 14 contests when coming off an ATS defeat. The Riders are also 2-8 ATS in their past 10 games and 0-4 ATS in their last four home dates.

As long as Jake Maier doesn’t throw three interceptions to Saskatchewan defenders again this week, we like the Stampeders to rope themselves an upset victory on the road.
