Crucial win for Michael Smith
And Smith’s win was much needed. The current world champion lost his place in the top four the previous week. His first round exit in Rotterdam saw Smith drop to fifth, a position that would see him finish outside the playoff places – something which would be unthinkable for the World No.1.
Now with just three nights remaining, Smith is back at the business end of the table. The win has also seen him go four points clear of Jonny Clayton in fifth place. Meaning Smith’s place in the playoffs is looking more secure again.
In the points table, Gerwyn Price has extended his lead at the top to four points. The Iceman is now on 33 points, four points clear of Michael van Gerwen. MVG had been favored to top the table all season. It was only when he relinquished the lead after Rotterdam, that Price took over the favorites tag. To top the table, Gerwyn Price is now -163. MVG is out to +137.
Night 14 Winner Betting
In the betting to win Night 14, Gerwyn Price is favorite at +275 with the best online sportsbooks. Price does have to play Michael van Gerwen (+300) in his quarter-final though, with the winner possibly facing Michael Smith (+300) in the semi-final, should he come through his quarter-final match with Nathan Aspinall (+1400).
