Can you believe it? We’ve finally reached the end of the 2023 Premier League Darts roadshow, with the last night of the league taking place in Aberdeen this Thursday. The favorite to win the Night is Gerwyn Price, but Michael Smith has won the previous three and now stands on the verge of making history if he can win Night 16. Can Smith do it? Let’s take a look with our latest darts betting picks.
- Night 16 of the 2023 Premier League Darts season comes from the P&J Live Arena in Aberdeen, Scotland. The action gets under way at 2 pm ET, on Thursday, May 18th
- Night 15 was won by Michael Smith, his third in succession. A win on Night 16 will see the Bully Boy make history
- Still up for grabs is the fourth and final position at next week’s finals night. Jonny Clayton is in pole position, but Nathan Aspinall still has an outside chance
- Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith, and Michael van Gerwen have already confirmed their places at the O2 Arena next week
Betting to top the Premier League Darts Points Table
Not only can Michael Smith wrestle top spot in the table away from Gerwyn Price this Thursday, he could also make history if he wins, as he will be the first player to ever win four consecutive Premier League Nights.
Smith’s form in the Premier League of late has been simply ridiculous. In two of his three wins, he’s had to defeat Gerwyn Price in the final. And on two occasions, he’s also had to knock Michael van Gerwen out on his way to the final. He’s just been playing darts on another level over the past few weeks.

And what makes it all the more astonishing, is this is exactly what Gerwyn Price had been doing just a few weeks ago. So Smith has had to start playing at an incredibly high level just to get near him.
But even before Price’s hot streak, Michael van Gerwen had threatened to run away with the points table. MVG won Night Four and took over the top spot in the table. He then went on to win Night’s Five and Six, and at this point, it looked a certainty he would run away with the league.
Then Gerwyn Price went crazy, winning Night’s Seven, Eight, and 11. The Iceman took over top spot on Night 12, after making yet another final (which he lost to Aspinall). And he then extended his lead over MVG by again making the final on Night 13.
But Night 13 was the start of Michael Smith’s winning streak, and Bully Boy now sits in second place in the table, only three points behind Gerwyn Price.
With one night of the league phase to play, the last Play-Off spot is still up for grabs…
A Jonny Clayton win over Nathan Aspinall in Aberdeen would see him qualify, while Aspinall must reach the final to qualify.

In order to top the table, Smith would need to win the Night, and would also need Price to lose his quarter-final. This is reflected in the betting to top the points table, where Price is -550, and Smith is +400. Still in with a slight chance of winning is MVG at +1600.

Premier League Darts Night 16 Picks
Right, first up is our betting pick to win Night 16. And we’re going with Gerwyn Price. Despite not having won since Night 11, Price has still been in the final in three of the next four nights.
This shows incredible consistency from Price, and it’s taken a hell of an improvement from Smith to live with him in recent weeks. But the Iceman is still knocking on the door, and we think he will be looking to tune up for finals night with a strong performance this week. So for this reason, we’re making Gerwyn Price our pick to win Night 16.
Another man in need of a result, probably more so than Price, is Jonny Clayton. A win for Clayton over Nathan Aspinall would see the Ferret qualify for finals night. A defeat for Clayton would mean a nervous wait, as Aspinall would need to also win his semi-final to claim the last position at next week’s finals.
Clayton won this event in 2021, so he knows how it feels to be Premier League champion. He will be desperate to do it again, and we think he will make it to the O2 Arena and at the very least give himself another chance.
The Ferret is -133 to win on the moneyline, and we think that is a good price. So we’re making Jonny Clayton to beat Nathan Aspinall our second betting pick.
