The second half of the season at the Major League Baseball is where you separate the contenders from the pretenders, and that’s exactly what we will see when the Cleveland Indians take on the Detroit Tigers, this Friday at Comerica Park at 7:08 PM ET.
With a 47-47 record, Cleveland is clearly the pretender in this game as they are not built to advance to the postseason; even if they kick it up in the second half of the season. Youngster Trevor Bauer will start for them with three wins and four losses on his resume this season; his ERA is 3.84.
The Indians enter to this game with four wins in their last five games.
“There’s nothing that you can do about what’s happened already, other than learn from it and see if there’s opportunities for us to get better moving forward,” general manager Chris Antonetti told MLB’s official website. “I believe in the group of the guys we have. I believe in our coaching staff, and I’m confident we’ll play better than we have in the second half.”
For the Detroit Tigers will be Anibal Sanchez on the mountain with six wins and three losses in the season; Detroit is clearly on a mission to win everything there is to win before getting to the World Series.
“I’ve said you don’t get overly excited about where you are in the standings until the end of the season, but you certainly can’t complain being atop the division,” manager Brad Ausmus told MLB’s official website.
The Indians are listed +151 to win in the money line and the Tigers are -161.
