Major League Baseball held the first Field of Dreams Game in August 2021. In that matchup, the Chicago White Sox defeated the New York Yankees by a score of 9-8. MLB held the game in a temporary ballpark with seating for 8,000. The park is next to the site of the 1989 movie, “Field of Dreams.” Like in the film, which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1990, the teams entered the playing field through a cornfield in the outfield. The 2022 version of the Field of Dreams Game, which features a National League matchup this year between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds, will be held in the ballpark.
One hundred and fifty nine acres of cornfields surround The Field of Dreams park. Fans who attend the game, a lottery for tickets was held earlier this year and winners (who had to have an Iowa zip code) were limited to four tickets, enter the park via a corn maze from the movie site to the stadium.
The Cubs uniforms are an homage to the 1920 home unis of the Chicago club, while the Reds will have throwbacks to their 1919 uniforms.

That home run came after the Yankees went from being down 7-4 to moving to an 8-7 lead following home runs from Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.
Chicago has three players who have hit double digit home runs this season in Patrick Wisdom, Wilson Contreras and Christopher Morel. Cincinnati also has three players with 10 or more homers in Brandon Drury, Tommy Pham and Joey Votto.
The Field of Dreams ballpark has measurements of 335 feet to left and right, 380 to the gaps and 400 feet to centerfield.
The Cubs are averaging .98 home runs per game this season, while the Reds have hit 0.95 homers per game on average.

This is an interesting prop. If a player hits a home run in left or right, it’s going to land in the cornfield. If a player hits a homer in dead center, it’s going to land in the bullpen or if it manages to clear the bullpen, in the cornfield. As a reference point, all the home runs in the 2021 game landed in the corn.

Ray Liotta played “Shoeless” Joe Jackson in the “Field of Dreams” film alongside director and star Kevin Costner. Liotta died on May 26, 2022, at 67. With Liotta’s passing I think the commentary team will mention his name in a dedication clip before the game begins. However, this one could be very tight because there’s a chance Costner’s name comes before Liotta’s because of his bigger role in the movie and influence and involvement in the game.

With that, this is an interesting pick, but barring a home run in the first inning by the first team to hit, I think we see a movie clip before a home run.
