The Atlanta Braves and the Boston Red Sox will start their regular season series this Friday at 7:10 PM ET at Fenway Park.
For Atlanta, the pitcher will be Jair Jurrjens and for Boston Jon Lester.
The Braves won two of the three games they played against the New York Yankees in their most recent series. On Wednesday, they beat NY 10-5 as both squads combined to hit nine home runs in the Bronx. According to Elias stats that tied the most homers hit in any Yankees game since 1951.
“It’s just that kind of ballpark,” Jason Heyward said, “but at the same time we got two teams that are capable of hitting some home runs.”
Right handed Pitcher Tommy Hanson had the win for the Braves, improving his record 7-0 lifetime against the A.L. East. “We survived,” Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said.
For Friday’s match, the winningless right handed Jair Jurrjens is listed to start. Jurrjens came from Triple-A to take the injured Brandon Beachy’s; he has stated four games this season with two losses and no wins on his record.
The Red Sox will take the Braves after winning six of the last seven games in series against the Cubs and the Marlins.
“Hitting is definitely contagious and so is winning,” Mike Aviles said. “Any time you get a couple of wins together you just get that good confidence going and you just keep rolling with it and that’s where we’re at right now.”
John Lester is 4-4 with 4.53 ERA; he allowed three runs (all earned) over 6.2 innings and was the winning pitcher against the Cubs on his last game.
Consider the total has gone OVER in 8 of Boston’s last 12 games at home.
