We’re currently in the middle of a month-long break in the 2023 MotoGP season. Five rounds are in the books, and about three-quarters of the year is still left. We wanted to take this break to update our MotoGP title futures bet. And in doing so, we’ve made a calculated bet that Bezzecchi will win the Moto championship. Keep reading and we’ll explain why that is.
But before we go any further, let’s look at the current MotoGP world championship odds. These fluctuate at the end of every race at popular MotoGP betting sites, but here’s who’s favored to win after the French Grand Prix:

2023 MotoGP Season Recap
It’s been an eventful five rounds of MotoGP. One featured injuries, penalties, and some more injuries. Let’s quickly recap the MotoGP season’s biggest takeaways, which will level-set our updated betting picks.
To no one’s surprise, Bagnaia is once again leading the world championship standings. With two wins, he’s up to 94 points on the season. That should be expected out of the reigning title holder. However, what has been surprising is the quick emergency of Bezzecchi. He also owns two victories and finds himself one point off Bagnaia in the standings.
Neither of the two has created much separation in the standings. Third overall is Brad Binder of KTM, who is on a hot streak as of late (more on that later). Binder has 81 points — only 13 off of Bagnaia. The next three riders all ride Ducati like Bagnaia, including Martin (80 points), Zarco (66), and Luca Marini (54 points).
Let’s touch on those injuries we eluded to earlier. Enea Bastianini — the true factory teammate of Bagnaia, not the other three we mentioned — has not raced since the opening round. Marini knocked Bastianini off his bike, causing a shoulder injury that he’s yet to recover from. This long break helps his recovery time, though. The expectation is he’ll be ready for the return race, the Italian Grand Prix.
And then there’s Marquez. He was one of the betting favorites to win the championship in the preseason. This was before he too was injured in the first race of the year. However, he’s now back in the fold. Marquez returned at the most recent French Grand Prix, where he finished 14th. If not for missing so much time, we might endorse him for this bet. However, there are two other riders more worth a futures bet at this moment.
Who To Bet To Win 2023 MotoGP Championship
We’ll be completely upfront here and say you should NOT bet Bagnaia to win the MotoGP Championship. There, we said it! This is mostly about betting value too — not skills on the grid. He’s -220 to win. Unless you have a massive pocket, there’s not much money to be made there with standard-sized bets.
Bagnaia’s tendency to get DNFs makes that betting line too risky to take too. He now has three DNFs this season — or 60 percent of the races so far. If not for strong showings in sprint races, Bagnaia would be way, way lower in the standings. Almost half (44 points) of his 96 seasonal points have come from sprint races. So yeah, skip out betting on him and take these two drivers instead:
Marco Bezzecchi
Alright, you saw our article headline so you knew this was coming. Unlike Bagnaia, there IS betting value here at plus-money odds. And not only that but there’s now enough evidence to suggest Bezzecchi is the real deal, not a fluke.
Even before Bagnaia got a DNF, Bezzecchi mostly dominated the field in Le Mans. He took the lead in lap 11 and never looked back before taking the checkered flag by just over four seconds. We’re seeing a star develop before our eyes and the earlier you bet on him (before the masses realize his stardom), the more betting value you’ll preserve out of this pick.
Brad Binder
Binder is our alternative bet to Bezzecchi, which you can afford to do since both are plus money. The South African rider has made a lot of noise the past two rounds, winning one sprint race (finishing third in another), plus a runner-up Grand Prix finish too. As a bettor, it’s never a bad idea to ride the momentum and that’s what this Binder bet essentially is. More performances like this and Binder could scale the standings, which makes this bet worthwhile at his odds.
