We are six races into the 2023 MotoGP schedule, and Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia is pulling away from the competition. The defending world champion has won three of the six races this year, including last week’s Italian GP. In 2022, Bagnaia won seven races and claimed his first world championship after finishing in second place in 2021. On Sunday, Bagnaia looks to win back-to-back races for the first time in 2023 when MotoGP heads to Sachsenring in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Germany, for the German Grand Prix. Bagnaia did not finish the race in 2022, but he did start on the pole.

In 2022, Fabio Quartararo won this race. The 2021 MotoGP World Champion, Quartararo finished in third place at the 2021 German GP. He ended the 2022 MotoGP season in second place and had three total first-place finishes. Quartararo, who rides for Yamaha, is looking for his first win of the 2023 season. His best finish came at the Grand Prix of the Americas, where he placed third.

Marc Marquez has the most wins at the German Grand Prix with eight. Marquez’s most recent victory on the course came in 2021. Marquez has started three races in 2023. He has yet to finish.

Francesco Bagnaia

The winner of last week’s Italian GPFrancesco Bagnaia, is favored to win the 2023 German Grand prix. The 26-year-old Italian is coming off an excellent year in 2022, where he won five of the final 10 races of the season to claim the first MotoGP World Championship of his career. Unlike in 2022, Bagnaia has been outstanding in the early going of the 2023 MotoGP season, with wins in Portugal, Spain, and Italy.  Bagnaia is first in the 2023 MotoGP Championship Standings with 131 points, which puts him 21 points ahead of the No. 2 racer, Marco Bezzecchi, who was one point behind Bagnaia ahead of the Italian Grand Prix.

Bagnaia set the all-time lap record at the German GP in 2022 with a time of 1:19:765 and a speed of 165.6 km/hour. However, he was out of last year’s race after three laps because of an accident.

Marc Marquez

Marc Marquez has practically owned Sachsenring. He is unbeaten in 11 years at the German Grand Prix. Marquez was absent from the race in 2022 when Fabio Quartararo triumphed. He holds the track record for best race lap with a time of 1:21:228 and a speed of 163.6 km/hour, which he accomplished in 2019.

The six-time MotoGP world champion looks to win his first race of 2023 in Germany. Marquez returned to action in France after fracturing his hand on the third lap of the Portuguese GP in March. He failed to finish in France, and he also left the Italian GP early.

With his past success on this track, one should be willing to overlook the 30-year-old’s crashes in his two previous outings and give him a serious look as the German Grand Prix betting pick.

Marco Bezzecchi

The winner of the recent French GPMarco Bezzecchi, has started 2023 as the second-best MotoGP competitor. Last year was his first MotoGP season. He did not win a race and his best finish was runner-up at the Dutch TT. However, he finished the year in 14th place in points. This year has been fantastic for the 24-year-old. In addition to his win in France, he placed first in Argentinathird in Portugal, and sixth at the Grand Prix of the Americas. He did not finish in Spain, and his eighth-place finish in Italy dropped him further behind points-leader Francesco Bagnaia.

Bezzecchi finished in 11th place in Germany in 2022.
