The third and final race of the MotoGP schedule for June 2023 takes place on Sunday when the riders compete in the Motul TT Assen / Dutch GP at the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands. The Dutch TT event has been held on this track in some form since 1949. Francesco Bagnaia was the winner of the 2022 Motul TT Assen / Dutch GP. Bagnaia, who has three wins in 2023, is coming off a runner-up finish to Jorge Martin in last week’s German Grand Prix MotoGP race. Here are some details on the race before we discuss the betting odds, predictions, and picks for the 2023 Motul TT Assen / Dutch GP.

The Assen course is 4.55 km long, and riders who finish the regulation race will complete 26 laps and cover 118.1 km. The best race lap was 1:32:50 by Aleix Espargaro in 2022. The retired Valentino Rossi has the most career wins in the Motul TT Assen with three. Among active riders, Marc Marquez holds the lead in that category with two career victories. Marquez has not finished a race in 2023. His last win at the Dutch GP came in 2018. His most recent finish in the race was seventh place in 2021.

Francesco Bagnaia

The 26-year-old Francesco Bagnaia is coming off an excellent year in 2022, where he won five of the final 10 races of the season to claim the first MotoGP World Championship of his career. Unlike in 2022, Bagnaia has been outstanding in the early going of the 2023 MotoGP season, with wins in Portugal, Spain, and Italy.  He is coming off a second-place finish in last week’s German Grand Prix, where he finished 2.468 seconds behind the winner of that race, Jorge Martín.

Bagnaia is first in the 2023 MotoGP Championship Standings with 160 points, which puts him 16 points ahead of Martin, who blasted past former No. 2 racer Marco Bezzecchi following the race in Germany.

Jorge Martin

Making the 42nd MotoGP start of his young career, the 25-year-old Jorge Martin has been fantastic in 2023 competition. Martin finished in the runner-up spot in France in mid-May. He followed that with a second-place finish in Italy. Last week he scored his first MotoGP win since he won the 2021 Styrian Grand Prix, beating Francesco Bagnaia for the win in Germany.

The 2021 MotoGP “Rookie of the Year” is climbing the points standings with his 2023 finishes. Outside of not completing two races in 2023, Martin has finished in the top five in all five races he’s finished, and is second in points.

Martin finished in seventh place in the 2022 Motul TT Assen / Dutch GP.

Marco Bezzecchi

The winner of the recent French GPMarco Bezzecchi, started 2023 as the second-best MotoGP competitor. However, the 24-year-old has slipped to third in the points standings following an eighth-place finish in Italy and a fourth in Germany. If Bezzecchi hopes to stay in the mix at the top of the standings in 2023, he needs to hold off the surging Martin and Bagnaia in the Netherlands. This could be the race where he makes up some of the recent ground he lost to those two, as he finished as the runner-up in the 2022 Motul TT Assen / Dutch GP.

Best betting picks for the 2023 Motul TT Assen / Dutch GP

Any of the top three MotoGP racers of 2023 could win this race, and while Francesco Bagnaia is the favorite, he does not present any value at the current odds. With that, the best betting picks and value picks are Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi. Martin has been incredibly consistent this year, but my betting pick for the 2023 Motul TT Assen / Dutch GP is that Bezzecchi will drive with confidence in the Netherlands following his performance in 2022 and get the win on Sunday.
