Popular Types Of NASCAR Bets You Can Place On Michigan International Speedway

NASCAR odds at Michigan come in all shapes and sizes. That variety is what makes gambling on the race, or any other in the NASCAR circuit for that matter, so damn exciting. Here’s a sample of the most-common Michigan odds NASCAR available:

Race Winner

No single NASCAR bet draws as much action as the race winner. You can probably guess what this wager is about — picking the exact winner amongst a crowded field of cars. Every single one of those competing drivers, which will be over 40, will have their own Vegas odds for NASCAR Michigan. All of them will likely be “plus money” too. While lopsided on the surface, the odds do create an opportunity to cash out on wins, if you can predict it correctly.

Matchups

Rather than gamble on the whole field, matchup wagers allow bettors to pick between pre-selected drivers. Bookies will make these selections ahead of time — typically based on rivalries or ongoing stories — in either a pair (head-to-head bet) or a four-car bunch (group bet). From there, bettors simply choose who in the matchup will place the highest by the end of the race. The performance of drivers not included in the matchup has no bearing on the betting outcome.

Props

Perhaps the best way to grasp props is to give you prime examples of them. Two of the most popular prop wagers for any NASCAR race are who will run the fastest lap during the event and over/under on how many lead changes will occur throughout the competition. Given Michigan’s reputation for speed (more on this shortly), it’s almost an obligation to risk money on the fastest lap prop.

Futures

Futures bets actually have very little to do with the NASCAR Michigan odds 2024 we just covered. That’s because futures have a much longer and further outlook than any individual race. A prime example of a futures wager is the NASCAR Cup Series winner. Bettors can pick a driver to win the title at any point in the season since a futures wager like this is almost always bettable.

About Michigan International Speedway

There’s a strong argument to be made that the Michigan International Speedway is the fastest of all NASCAR tracks today. That’s no small honor considering the quality of courses in the entire NASCAR rotation. Yet, Michigan constantly checks out as the fastest.

The velocity starts with its two-mile, D-shaped layout. It’s easily one of the largest tracks in NASCAR, only behind Daytona, Talladega, and Indianapolis. Then, the course is just flat-out wide. The extra racing surface gives drivers ample space to build speed and pass other cars. And finally, there are no restrictor plate requirements in Michigan. Add this all together and it’s no wonder why the track record for a single lap is 203.2 miles per hour by Marcos Ambrose, a mark untouched since 2012.

The Michigan International Speedway hosts a NASCAR Cup Series competition every year, dubbed the FireKeepers Casino 400 this season. The venue has been at least a once-a-year pitstop for NASCAR ever since 1969 — only months after its grand opening in 1968. Previously, the race was a summertime fixture, but starting in 2020, was moved toward the end of the season by NASCAR. For now, it’s the second-to-last race before the NASCAR postseason begins.

The need-for-speed venue is located in Brooklyn, Michigan, which is seventy miles removed from Detroit. Like many speedways, the one in Michigan is also owned by NASCAR itself. The move happened when the organization purchased the International Speedway Corporation, and its umbrella of venues, in 2019
