Alright, you’re probably thinking, “why should I even listen to you?” Hey, that’s a great question. The internet is certainly not void of basketball opinions. But here’s the main reason you should consider our picks:

Our hit rate has been pretty darn good throughout this season. Why, though?
For one, we’re extremely selective with our betting choices. Like we said earlier, the NBA is ripe with betting opportunities. But to the undisciplined bettor, that’s actually a negative, not a positive. It’s negative because you might “force” many bad bets.
We avoid doing so at all costs, hence why our weekly picks are usually limited to 3-4 plays. For the majority of bettors, high volume is a negative ROI, as it should be.
Sportsbooks have betting lines down to a science, especially in popular sports like the NBA. There’s a reason they stay in business because they’re eating bettors’ lunch money more often than not. But… that doesn’t mean they’re perfect. They do let a misplaced betting line slip here and now, and when they do, we pounce on it.
Betting only when you have an edge is the key to success, but want to know one more? Not falling victim to the headlines and hoopla. The media has a sway on the national conversation that’s not always accurate.
Maybe a certain player went off for over 40+ points or they had a highlight play against a former rival. That stuff makes for a great viral clip on social media, but it rarely translates into betting. So when making picks, we’re trusting our data, our process — not what media and fans are clamoring about (which is usually only reserved for the major market teams and big stars anyway).
NBA Betting Strategy To Follow
As much as we’d like to hold your hand on every single NBA pick, the truth is we can’t. To be the best NBA bettor you can possibly be, you’ll have to self-select some choices. And when you do, we hope you’re following these tips. Really, they are non-negotiable:
Be data dependent: we eluded to this in the prior section, but it bears repeating, make picks with your head — not your heart. Unbiased metrics like offensive/defensive ratings, on/off splits, and so on should guide your betting analysis. Not player popularity. Not media narratives. The NBA has become a highly analytical sport, and the best bettors lean on that to find edges.
Factor in fatigue: this rule is very, very particular to the NBA. This is a league that schedules teams to play games on back-to-back nights or three games in four days to fulfill an exhausting 82-game schedule. As you can imagine, that takes a toll on players and teams — no matter how good they are (when well rested). So keep a close eye on the team’s schedules. If they’re on a long road trip or playing the second game of a doubleheader, they WILL be affected, throwing off their usual metrics you’d normally bank on.
Track line movement: this one’s a biggie. NBA betting lines change all the time, and it’s rarely ever random. If a pre-game spread starts at -4 but suddenly jumps to -6, it’s on you to figure out why. Is someone injured? Is the public heavily betting one side? Or did a “sharp” bettor place a sizable bet? You must know the answer, and in doing so, you can evaluate whether the line shift is justified or not. Never ever ignore line movement. If you are, you’re throwing away crucial market information, and that’s a no-no.
Shop for the best betting line: last, but not least, shop betting lines across sportsbooks. What’s that mean? Once you’ve settled on making a specific bet, look for it at different places. More often than not, the odds will be identical from sportsbook to sportsbook. However, there will be moments when you’ll find arbitrage. By that, we mean a line that was -3 everywhere else, but -3.5 at a specific site. Obviously, you’re much better off taking the -3.5 line and saving yourself the half-point (and avoiding a dreaded push if it’s a close game). Profitable bettors make a habit of always comparing betting prices before locking in a play.
