The Conference Finals are here, and Game 1 in the West just delivered an instant classic. The Spurs stole Game 1 on the Thunder’s home court in double overtime. The final was 122-115. Wemby was a MONSTER!

San Antonio’s 7-foot-4 superstar dropped 41 points, 24 rebounds and 3 blocks. He did it without De’Aaron Fox. Rookie Dylan Harper stepped up in Fox’s place with 24 points, 11 rebounds, 7 steals and 6 assists. He is just 20 years old. SGA was held to 24 points on 7-of-23 shooting. The Thunder’s aura of invincibility took a real hit last night.

The East gets started tonight. The Knicks host the Cavs in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. New York is a -270 series favorite. They’re coming off two straight sweeps. Cleveland needed seven games to get past Detroit.

OKC is now +125 to repeat as champions. The Spurs jumped to +140 after the upset. The Knicks sit at +500. This page breaks down the updated title odds, the Round 2 results, the Conference Finals matchups, and where the betting value sits. The Finals tip off June 3.

Our NBA Playoffs page has series odds and matchup breakdowns for every round.

The Biggest NBA betting storylines this week

Wemby just made the entire NBA stop and take notice. His 41-24-3 line in Game 1 was historic. He is the youngest player to ever post a 40-20 game in the NBA playoffs. He played 50 minutes in a double-overtime road win. And he did it against the team that had yet to lose in the postseason. That’s a superstar moment if there’s ever been one.

Other storylines moving the board:

  • The Spurs are now +140 to win the title. They were +400 last week. That’s a massive shortening after one game. Stealing home court in OKC’s building changes everything. San Antonio is one win away from a 2-0 series lead.
  • OKC dropped from -180 to +125. The Thunder are still favored, but the price has loosened considerably. SGA shooting 7-of-23 is a real concern. The Thunder need a Game 2 win, or they’re heading to San Antonio down 0-2.
  • Fox was inactive for the Spurs with an ankle injury. His status for Game 2 is the biggest variable in the West. If he’s back, the Spurs could legitimately steal this series. If he’s out again, Wemby has to carry it again.
  • That being said, Dylan Harper put on a clinic in his first Conference Finals start. The 20-year-old rookie filled in for Fox and had an outrageously good game, with 24 points, 11 rebounds, 7 steals, and 6 assists.
  • The Knicks are favored to win the series against the Cavs to the tune of -270. They’ve had nine days of rest. Cleveland just survived another 7-game series, triumphing on the road in Detroit to get to the Conference Finals. New York looks unstoppable right now. The market is treating this like a foregone conclusion.

The biggest movers

OKC went from -180 to +125 after dropping Game 1. That’s a huge swing after one loss. The market is reacting strongly to Wemby’s dominance. The Thunder’s defense had no answer for him. On the other side of the court, SGA struggled badly against the Spurs‘ length.

San Antonio shortened from +400 to +140. That’s the biggest title odds move of the postseason. The Spurs were the value bet of the season at +2500 in October. They’ve outperformed every expectation. Now they’re basically co-favorites to win it all.

The Knicks shortened from +575 to +500 after taking down the Sixers in the East bracket. They’ve won 6 of their last 7 playoff games by double digits. They’re the rested favorite heading into their series. Their path to the Finals is the cleanest of any contender.

Cleveland sits at +2400 after winning Game 7 against Detroit. The Cavs are live but tired. They’re heavy underdogs in Round 3. The market sees a real Knicks problem coming. Mitchell and Harden will have to be otherworldly to advance.

Round 2 final results

Thunder 4, Lakers 0 (FINAL)

OKC took care of business and swept the Lakers. The Thunder won Game 1 108-90 at home. They kept the pressure on through four straight wins. Doncic never returned. LeBron carried LA alone and it wasn’t enough. The Thunder are off to the Western Conference Finals with extended rest.

Knicks 4, 76ers 0 (FINAL)

New York closed out Philly with another sweep. The Knicks opened with a 137-98 blowout. They never let up. Brunson, Towns, and Bridges dominated all four games. Embiid couldn’t carry the 76ers alone after the brutal seven-game Celtics series. New York is the East’s Cinderella-killer.

Spurs 4, Timberwolves 2 (FINAL)

The Spurs survived a real scare. Minnesota took Game 1 in San Antonio. The series swung after Wemby got ejected in Game 4. After the series was tied, Wemby and Fox responded with two straight dominant performances to close it out in six. Edwards played hurt the whole way through, but it wasn’t enough as San Antonio advanced.

Cavaliers 4, Pistons 3 (FINAL)

Cleveland needed all seven games to put Detroit away. The Cavs won the deciding game in Detroit. Mitchell led the way through the series with multiple 30-point efforts. Cunningham fought hard for Detroit but didn’t get enough support. The Cavs walk into the Conference Finals tired but alive.

Conference Final matchups and series odds

Spurs vs. Thunder (Spurs lead 1-0, OKC -120 series)

This is the series the basketball world wanted. Wemby vs. SGA. Two of the league’s top three players. The Spurs took Game 1 in double overtime, 122-115. Wemby went off for 41 and 24. Harper added 24 points, 11 rebounds, 7 steals, and 6 assists in place of Fox.

OKC is still a slight series favorite at -120. The books think Game 1 was an outlier. SGA shooting 7-of-23 is unsustainable. The Thunder still have home court. Game 2 is critical. If San Antonio steals another one, the series swings hard.

Watch Fox’s injury status. If he plays Game 2, the Spurs become true co-favorites. If he sits, Harper gets another start. After his Game 1 performance, that’s no longer a concern for San Antonio. If I had to guess, I would say the Spurs rest Fox again in Game 2, since they won Game 1.

Knicks vs. Cavaliers (Game 1 Tonight, NYK -270 series)

The Knicks host Game 1 tonight. New York has had nine days of rest. They swept the 76ers in Round 2 after defeating the Hawks in six games in Round 1. They’ve had 4 playoff wins by 25 points or more. That’s a level of dominance no other team in the East can compete with.

Cleveland is the tired underdog. They just played seven brutal games against Detroit. Mitchell carried them through the series. Now they have to deal with Brunson, Towns, and Bridges at full strength. The Knicks are -270 series favorites for a reason.

The best bet here? Look at the live unders. The Knicks’ defense is suffocating. Cleveland will be running on fumes. Games could come in lower than expected. The series price feels accurate to me.

NBA Awards recap and coach of the year

SGA won MVP. He averaged 31.4 points on 55% shooting in 66 games. Best player on the best team. Two straight MVPs. He joins Jokic, Giannis, LeBron, and Nash as recent back-to-back winners.

Wemby won DPOY. He put up 24.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks in the regular season. He’s only added to the case in the playoffs. The 12-block playoff record. The 41-24 Game 1 performance. He’s the best two-way player in the league.

Cooper Flagg took home Rookie of the Year. Kon Knueppel finished runner-up. Sixth Man went to Keldon Johnson. Most Improved went to Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

Coach of the Year is Joe Mazzulla’s to lose.

Betting trends we’re watching this week

Home court matters less than usual. The Spurs just won Game 1 on the road in OKC. Cleveland won a Game 7 on the road in Detroit. The Knicks have plenty of homecourt advantage, but they’ve dominated everywhere. Don’t overpay for home favorites in the Conference Finals.

Sharp money is now on the Spurs. They’ve been a sharp favorite all postseason. The Game 1 win confirms what the sharps already knew. Wemby is the X-factor that no other team has. Public money is split between OKC and the Knicks.

Defense is still winning. The Spurs locked up SGA in Game 1. The Knicks held the 76ers to under 100 twice in their sweep. The Thunder are the league’s best defense in the playoffs. Lean unders in any series involving these three teams.

What could move NBA odds before next week

Fox’s ankle is the biggest variable in the West. If he plays Game 2, the Spurs become legitimate co-favorites. If he sits, OKC will likely bounce back. The Spurs’ +140 title price will swing hard either way based on his status.

Game 2 in OKC is a must-win for the Thunder. Going down 0-2 with two games in San Antonio next would crater their title price. A bounce-back win pushes their number back into solid favorite territory. The market is watching closely.

Knicks-Cavs Game 1 sets the tone for the entire East series. A blowout makes the Knicks even bigger title favorites. A close game opens the door for the Cavs to extend their run. Cleveland needs to steal one in New York to have any real chance.

Watch for the NBA Finals lines to drop soon. The books will start posting Finals matchup prices once one or both series settle. Early Finals lines often offer the best value before the public weighs in.
