Dan Favale

Basketball was Dan’s first love. Growing up, he would stay up late watching the end of New York Knicks games, living and dying with every shot and whistle. While basketball was also his favorite sport to play, he quickly came to realize a professional career was of the question. Soon after that revelation, he decided to channel his inner creativity and pursue sports writing. During high school and through college, he did a variety of things to help him along his career path. He was the sports editor of his high school newspaper, interned in the marketing department at Newsday, a newspaper in New York, went through the early writer program at Bleacher Report and became deputy editor of the popular stats site NBA Math. Initially, Dan began his sports coverage blogging about the NBA. Once he turned that into a paying career, he began branching out into other sports. Right now, he counts the NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, tennis, esports and golf as the leagues and sports he follows most closely. In recent years, Dan has also taken up tracking sports betting news and laws throughout the United States, a beat that’s given him a firm understanding of the industry. When he’s not working, you can probably find Dan at the gym, hanging out with his wife and three dogs, editing YouTube shorts for the Hardwood Knocks NBA podcast or counting down the days until his next Cinnabon cheesecake and donuts cheat meal.

Dan received his bachelor's degree in English from St. Joseph's College on Long Island, New York.

Professional Achievements

Dan frequently appears on a number of mainstream podcasts and radio shows as well as the occasional TV program. He is also a founding co-host of the popular Hardwood Knocks NBA podcast, in which he and his co-host, Grant Hughes, seek to thoroughly cover everything about the Association without taking it too seriously.
