Cloud9
After finishing in 5th-8th place in the 2021 Valorant Champions tournament, Cloud9 failed to make the 2022 event. The team, which has been together in its current form since March, looks to avoid missing out on the 2023 Valorant Champions event. Cloud9 came close to qualifying when the squad finished in fourth place in the recent Americas League event, where the team’s odds were +2200 to win. Cloud9 lost to Evil Geniuses in the upper bracket semifinals of that event and then fell 2-1 to NRG in the lower bracket semis. Both those teams have already qualified for the Champions event.
With their performance in the Americas event, it’s not a surprise to see Cloud9 installed as the betting favorite in this event.
Cloud9 starts the VCT 2023: Americas Last Chance Qualifier by facing the winner of the matchup between Sentinels and 100 Thieves.
Leviatan
One of the favorites to win the 2023 VCT Americas League event, Leviatan finished in 5th place in that tournament. That was a disappointing performance for the squad, who had betting odds of +350 to win that tournament. The Latin American squad fell 2-1 to FURIA Esports in the upper bracket quarterfinals and then lost to Cloud9 in the lower bracket quarters. This team, who have been together in their current form since October 2022, finished in 7th-8th place and took home $40,000 in the 2022 Champions event.
Leviatan does not play until the semifinal round of the Valorant Champions Tour 2023: Americas Last Chance Qualifier, where they will be matchup up against MIBR, KRU or FURIA depending on the outcome of previous games.
FURIA Esports
Coming off a 6th place finish in the 2023 VCT Americas League event, FURIA Esports look to make it to the Valorant Champions tournament for a third straight year. In 2021, the Brazilian squad finished the event 0-2 in Group B and bowed out in 13th-16th place. Last year, FURIA Esports had the same record and placing while competing in Group D. The team’s current roster has been together since late in 2022, and they are coming off losses to LOUD and NRG in the Americas event.
FURIA, who play out of Brazil, opens the 2023 VCT LCQ against the winner of the MIBR vs. KRU Esports matchup.
