VCT 2023: Pacific League playoff picks
|To Win 2023 VCT Pacific League Playoffs|
The South Korean team, DRX, broke out in 2022 when they placed in the 5th-6th spot at the Valorant Champions 2022 event in Istanbul. The team has been together since the beginning of January, outside of Foxy9, who joined the squad in October.
DRX were in the mix as far as the odds were concerned entering the LOCK//IN event in Sao Paulo, and the team went very deep in that event, finishing in the 3rd-4th spot while giving eventual runner-up LOUD a tough matchup in the semi-final round.
DRX have played well during the 2023 VCT Pacific League regular season, finishing with an 8-1 record. The club’s only loss came late in the season when they fell to Team Secret. DRX has a bye in the first round of the playoffs. They face the winner of the matchup between ZETA DIVISION and Team Secret.
Hailing from Singapore, Paper Rex has quickly climbed the international ladder. In 2021, the team only qualified for one international event. However, Paper Rex qualified for every international event the following year and managed a second-place finish at the VCT Stage 2: Masters Copenhagen.
The majority of this team has been together since 2021, with the newest member, CigaretteS, joining the squad in October 2022.
Paper Rex could have had a better event at LOCK//IN in Sao Paolo, as Cloud9 eliminated them in the first round.
Paper Rex finished the regular season in second place with a 7-2 record. The team’s only losses came to Team Secret and DRX. Both those setbacks came early in the season, and Paper Rex finished on a 5-0 run. Like DRX, Paper Rex has a bye in the first round. They face the winner of the T1 and Gen.G Esports matchup.
T1 plays out of Korea. The team had a poor performance at LOCK//IN in Sao Paolo, where they finished in 17th-32nd. However, T1 bounced back in the regular season of the VCT 2023 Pacific League, finishing with a record of 6-3, where their losses came to Paper Rex, Gen.G Esports, and DRX. Between the setbacks to Gen.G, and DRX, T1 ran off four straight wins, including victories over playoff teams ZETA Division, and Team Secret. T1 opens the quarterfinals against ZETA, who they defeated 2-1 on May 12.
Best bet to win Valorant Champions Tour 2023: Pacific League playoffs
With how they played at the LOCK//IN event in Sao Paulo and how they finished the 2023 VCT Pacific League regular season, there’s no reason to think DRX won’t win the VCT Pacific League playoffs. With that, DRX is the best bet to win the 2023 VCT Pacific League playoffs. However, if you want to have a wager that presents some value, Team Secret is the pick. They defeated DRX in the regular season and could meet them as early as the semi-finals if they beat ZETA in the opening round of the VCT Pacific League playoffs.
Pick: DRX to win VCT 2023 Pacific League playoffs.
