The Call of Duty Stage 5 Major takes place this week at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The CDL Major 5 event features 12 of the best Call of Duty teams. The event has a total prize pool of $500,000. The winner takes home $200,000. In addition, the runner-up pockets $120,000, while third place earns $80,000, and fourth place gets $40,000.
CDL Major V is the fifth of five Call of Duty regular events scheduled for 2023. In addition to the prize money involved in the tournament, the 12 participating teams will be vying for CDL Points. Those points will help them qualify for the CDL Championship 2023 event. That tournament takes place between June 15-18 at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV in Las Vegas.
The 12 teams participating in the CDL Major 4 event are: OpTic Texas, LA Thieves, Atlanta FaZe, Seattle Surge, New York Subliners, Boston Breach, Toronto Ultra, Las Vegas Legion, Minnesota R0KKR, Florida Mutineers, LA Guerillas, and London Royal Ravens.

OpTic Texas
OpTic Texas once again have momentum on their side. The team finished last month’s Stage 4 Major Qualifiers with a 5-0 record before finishing second in that major to the LA Thieves. They also finished as the runner-up to Toronto Ultra at the CDL Stage 3 Major event in March after placing fourth in the Stage 2 Major in February.
The squad enters the Stage 5 Major with a 5-0 record in the qualifiers, and they open the event against the Florida Mutineers, who were 3-2 in the qualifiers.
Atlanta FaZe
The Atlanta FaZe entered the Call of Duty Major 4 tournament after a bit of a shaky performance in the qualifier, where the team went 3-2. However, the team put those results behind them when that Major took place and finished in third place after losing to Optic Texas in the Elimination Final. FaZe, who won the CDL Stage 2 Major in February, had a better qualifying round for the Call of Duty 5 Major, going 4-1. The team’s only loss came to OpTic Texas.
Atlanta opens the CDL Major 5 against the Las Vegas Legion, who were 3-2 in the qualifiers.
LA Thieves
If one is looking at a long shot for the Call of Duty 5 Major, the Los Angeles Thieves could be your team. LA won the Call of Duty 4 Major after being the third-place team at the CDL Major 4 qualifiers. The team was the runner-up squad at the CDL Major 2 event in February. Before that, they wrapped up the Stage 1 Major, which took place in December in the 5th-6th spot.
The Thieves did not have a good qualifier for the CDL 5 Major, going 1-4, with their only win coming over the London Royal Ravens, who were 0-5 in the qualifiers.

OpTic Texas have been one of the most consistent Call of Duty teams this year, and while they are coming off a loss in the Grand Final of the CDL Major 4, they are the favorite to win this event because of how well they have played.
