The Detroit Tigers and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in a two game interleague miniseries as pitchers Anibal Sanchez and Hyun-Jin Ryu meet this Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium at 10:10 PM ET.
Sanchez pitched once this season with no decision in the 10-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles, after 4 innings, two hits and two runs allowed. He has only played once on against the Dodgers on his career and ended with a loss on his record.
The Tigers are trying to understand the new methods of manager Brad Ausmus, who replaced Jim Leyland.
“He’s got it figured out, but he’ll find out there’s a lot to learn because he’ll be willing to listen,” Leyland said Monday of Ausmus. “I think he’s a great fit, a terrific fit in fact for the Tigers.”
Hyun-Jin Ryu is 1-1 this season after three starts; his last outing was against a loss against the San Francisco Giants on April 4 after allowing eight hits and eight runs in two innings.
“I don’t really feel like he got thumped,” Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said about Ryu performance. “We didn’t help him for sure. Things didn’t go his way, but I like the way he handled himself. He could have gotten irritated.”
The Dodgers have won four of their last six games against the Tigers. Consider also, Detroit is 2-5 SU in their last 7 games when playing on the road against LA Dodgers.
