The long discussion when it comes to legalizing sports betting in Georgia isn’t going to stop in the near future. As a matter of fact, things have become even more popular this summer thanks to democrat Stacey Adams. That’s right, the Georgia Governor candidate pushing for sports betting has been making countless headlines, and it has certainly raised her profile with a bunch of voters in the state. Will it help her win the ballot?
That remains to be seen, but Abrams surely is gaining popularity thanks to her take on things. In a recent interview, she came out and said that she has a plan in place to legalize casino gambling and sports betting in the state. This would of course, be massive, as it’s been something that people have been hoping for quite some time. However, as close as things have been, they’ve never gotten over the line.
There was some hope that things would have been legalized earlier this year, but Georgia ended up shutting things down. Now, it’s completely up in the air when things will be changed in the state, but there is some hope that things could change in the near future. With Adams speaking out in favor of the betting, this could really help the wheels get in motion down the road if she’s elected.
At the end of the day, though, there’s still a lot that will need to happen in order for Georgia sports betting to come. Illegal activity is a growing problem in the state, but the desire for regulated betting continues to be at a high level. Abrams knows the importance of having things regulated and the amount of money that it would bring to the state. Only time will tell if she gets her to wish for sports betting and if she wins the governor race.

People are still mad about the Georgia sports bill failing in April
It goes without saying, but people are still mad about the Georgia sports bill failing in April. Before this happened, there was a general belief that things would be able to go down. Leading up to the news, people were checking out the best odds through the best-rated sportsbooks. This included things for NFL football betting and much more. However, Georgia put the kibosh on things, which was rough to see.
The fact of the matter is that there’s plenty of division when it comes to sports betting in the state. Similar to other states, which include the issues for sports betting in Texas, there’s a fear of the kinds of problems that could arise from sports betting. Most notably, people are worried about gambling addiction increasing in Georgia. While this is understandable, you’ve got to remember that more than 30 states have made things legal in the USA.
It’s only a matter of time before more and more states move forward. With Georgia being a right-leaning state, though, there are countless republicans who are completely against sports betting being pushed through, despite the economic benefits that it would provide the state. We’ve brought it up above, but illegal sports betting is an issue here as well. Why in the world wouldn’t Georgia want to put an end to that?
They could wipe out the countless sports rings that are being run illegally in the state. However, things are only going to continue until things are made legal. Abrams herself knows that this is a problem, and she wants to see some change. If she ends up being elected into office, then she’ll keep on pushing for sports betting. This will be something the voters will 100 percent keep in mind.
Will Georgia sports betting come in 2023?
Right now, everyone is wondering will Georgia sports betting come in 2023. That’s unknown, but what we do know is that there’s zero chance things will be arriving in time before 2022 comes to a close. This is a major bummer for so many people, especially with the University of Georgia expected to be in the national title hunt once again this season. After winning it all last season, UGA looks primed for another strong go.
Because of this, people, of course, would have been checking out the best NCAAF betting odds and looking to make some bets. That won’t be the case in Georgia, though, as nothing will be coming in time. Instead, people in Georgia will need to travel to outside states to place bets on the Bulldogs. Think about how big things would have been had legal betting been allowed for the upcoming showdown between Georgia and Alabama.
That’s one of the biggest games of the football season, and millions of dollars are bet on it across the USA. This rivalry is only made better with Kirby Smart and Nick Saban being at the helm of both squads. Again, people won’t be able to make college football bets this year in Georgia, but let’s just keep our fingers crossed that the same won’t be able to be said at this point next year.
