Max Verstappen goes into the 2023 Spanish Grand Prix as the overwhelming favorite with the bookmakers. The double-world champion is looking for his third win in three races, and we’re going to tell you if he’s going to do it with our latest Formula 1 betting picks.

The street circuits were supposed to suit Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perez. But unfortunately for the Mexican, he could only manage second in Miami, and he failed to show up at all last weekend, finishing down in 16th position at Monte Carlo.
All this means Max Verstappen has now opened up a 39 points gap at the top of the 2023 Drivers Championship table. The lead Verstappen has established has prompted the best Formula 1 betting sites to trim his odds into -1600 to win his third successive world title. He was previously -1000, just a couple of races ago.
Elsewhere, last weekend we saw Fernando Alonso score his highest finish for nine years. The Aston Martin driver couldn’t live with the pace set by Verstappen. But he did enough to ensure a comfortable second place finish.

Alonso’s performance, along with the poor showing from Perez, has prompted movement in the betting to win the world championship without Max Verstappen. Before the race Perez was -700, with Alonso at +1000. The odds now show Perez is -500, with Alonso cut to +700.
Betting to win the 2023 Spanish Grand Prix
After going into the previous weekend as an odds-on favorite, a level of normality has returned to Max Verstappen’s odds to win the Spanish Grand Prix. Verstappen started the week at +115 to win in Monaco. He started this week at -240 to win in Barcelona.
This is more what we’re used to seeing from the best F1 betting sites for the double-world champion.
After Verstappen in the betting is his teammate, Sergio Perez. The Mexican started the week at +350, but a lack of interest from punters has seen him eased out to +450. Behind the Red Bull duo is Fernando Alonso. Probably still on a high after last weekend’s performance, Alonso is +900 to win his home Grand Prix.
There is then a huge gap in the betting before we get to the rest of the field. Leading the rest of the pack is Lewis Hamilton at a massive looking +2500. The Mercedes car has recently had a series of upgrades as well. None of this was visible at Monaco, with Hamilton finishing nearly 40 seconds behind Verstappen, down in fourth place.

2023 Spanish Grand Prix Betting Picks
Sorry folks, but we’re going a bit route one this week. Max Verstappen hasn’t finished outside of the top two all season. He won this race last year, and he has just won the last two races this season at Miami and Monaco.
The Red Bull driver seems to be going for the kill. There’s a series of traditional F1 circuits coming up over the next few weeks, and Verstappen looks like he is going to try and cash in on these races and build an unassailable lead over Perez before the European section of the season is over.
He’s very short at -240. But a win for Max Verstappen looks the only pick in the 2023 Spanish Grand Prix.
Fastest Lap Betting Picks
It’s understandable if you might not want to back Max Verstappen at those odds. So we’re also going to name a couple of alternative picks.
We’ve looked at the betting to have the fastest lap at Barcelona this weekend. Max Verstappen is +150, with Fernando Alonso at +400, and Sergio Perez at +450.
Sergio Perez struggles to match Max Verstappen for intensity across the whole of a race. But he is in the fastest car, and for periods of a race, Perez can also match Verstappen for speed. The Mexican also claimed the fastest lap on this circuit in 2022.

Finally, we’ve looked at the head-to-head markets for the Spanish Grand Prix. We like the look of Lewis Hamilton to finish ahead of his Mercedes teammate, George Russell. And we also like the look of a bet on a Mercedes car to finish ahead of a Ferrari.
Hamilton is -130 to beat Russell (+100), and Mercedes are -130 to finish ahead of Ferrari (+100). We think both these bets have a great chance of winning, so take your pick for which one you prefer.
