Baylor, who won their first championship last year, was not among the pre-season favorites, but the team has climbed the rankings and is now among one of the top four picks to win in 2022.

Gonzaga
The Gonzaga Bulldogs are the No. 4 ranked team in the AP Top 25. Despite an 11-2 record with losses to No. 5 ranked Duke and No. 16 ranked Alabama, the Bulldogs are the favorites to take home the 2022 NCAAB championship.
The top players who returned from last year’s runner-up club are forward Drew Timme and guard Andrew Nembhard. Timme leads the team with 16.7 points per game and Nembhard is top-five on the club in scoring and leads the Bulldogs in assists per game (4.5) and steals per game (1.8).

Gonzaga also has the No. 1 player in the 2022 NBA recruiting class in Chet Holmgren. Holmgren is No. 3 on the team in scoring with 13.0 points per game. The big man leads the team in rebounds and blocks.
Baylor
Baylor was not picked to repeat as NCAAB champions, but the team is No. 1 in the AP Top 25 and rolling along without a loss. The Bears are 13-0 and are not slated to play a top-20 opponent until they face Alabama, who is ranked at No. 15, on January 29. Baylor has won their first 13 games by an average of 25 points.
What’s scary about the Bears is that they play as a team. Only one player on the club, James Akinjo averages more than 13 points per game. However, LC Cryer, Kendall Brown and Adam Flagler all put up between 11.5 and 12.8 points each time they step on the court.

The Bears lost four starters from last year’s club, and that’s most likely why the team was an afterthought in the preseason rankings, but they have silenced their doubters.
Baylor is 41-2 since the start of last season.
Duke
Duke is the No. 2 team in the AP Top 25 with a record of 11-1. The team’s sole loss was a 71-66 setback against Ohio State in November. Since that loss, the Blue Devils have won five straight and outscored their opponents 427-307.
COLUMN: @DukeMBB has had many superstar freshmen throughout the years.
So how does our @maxrego_ think potential No. 1 2022 NBA Draft pick Paolo Banchero stacks up against them so far?https://t.co/zdRPpOU0xp

It would be amazing if head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who has led the Blue Devils to five national championships, could make it six in the final year of his coaching career. Krzyzewski said in June that this year would be his final year on the bench.
