When it comes to New York sports betting news across the year, it’s never a surprise to see the state among the best in the USA when it comes to total betting handle. Despite the Giants taking down the Patriots this past weekend, the morale has been quite low for the fans. That’s because Daniel Jones was expected to prove that he’s an elite signal-caller this year after he signed his $160 million extension. Instead, he only tossed for two touchdowns before he tore his ACL against the Raiders earlier this month. Now, it’s up in the air if he’ll be the starter next season.
As for the Jets, the wheels fell off for the season when Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles during the first game of the season against the Buffalo Bills. Former first-round pick Zach Wilson took over as the starter for Rodgers, but he was downright terrible from the moment he was given the keys to the offense. He was benched last week and he isn’t expected to be back in East Rutherford next fall. All this has added up to a nightmare season for the local teams not too far from Manhattan.

College football has been saving New York Betting in recent months
The good news for lawmakers and officials here is that college football has been saving New York betting in recent months. This past season, the last regular season weekend arrived for NCAAF betting and there were some incredible games for people to bet on. While they’re not local teams, people in New York surely checked out the action between Alabama and Auburn in the SEC, while Washington State and No. 3 UW played an incredible game in the Pac-12.
In that Pac-12 tilt, Michael Penix Jr. and the Huskies were able to escape with a 24-21 victory. Come Friday night, the Huskies will be taking on the Oregon Ducks in the conference championship game. In that contest, there’s no doubt that a trip to the College Football Playoff will be on the line. If UW takes down Oregon, then the Huskies will make the Top 4. However, if Oregon wins, then they’ll advance.
Meanwhile for Alabama, they were able to stun Auburn thanks to a late touchdown pass on 4th-and-31. It was a play that’d you expect to see out of a movie, but the Crimson Tide were able to get the job done. Now, Nick Saban and Co. need a little bit of luck to sneak into the CFP, but you can never rule them out. This weekend, they’ll take on No. 1 Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.
Both the Pac-12 title game and the SEC title game will be must-see matchups, with people around the world watching. It goes without saying, but it also includes countless people all over New York. While the NFL betting might be disappointing, the wagers for college football action are going to be through the roof over the next month, especially once the CFP gets here, plus don’t forget about bowl season too.

Mobile betting revenue for New York has been sky-high
In some other positive news for the Empire State, mobile betting revenue for New York has been sky-high. While we’re still waiting on the official numbers for October, it has been reported that the revenue from online bets in October was $165.6 million, the second-highest total for the state. Online betting has always been incredible for New York and that’s not going to be changing anytime soon.
People love the convenience of being able to place a wager from anywhere on the go. Year-round, whether it be the NFL, NCAA, NBA, NHL, MLS, Premier League or something else, people all over New York are getting their bets in from the convenience of their own home. It’s what makes the process that much more enjoyable for folks.
