New York Posted Epic Online Betting Numbers for Thanksgiving

It seems like every time we talk about New York sports betting news, there are wild numbers attached to the conversation. This shouldn’t be a surprise at all, as the state continues to record some of the highest handles in the United States. In late November, that was once again the case, with people in the state going wild during the long holiday week. This was made clear, as New York posted epic online betting numbers for Thanksgiving.

According to a report, New York recorded an online sports betting handle of $516.6 million for the week ending on Nov. 26. This obviously means that the Thanksgiving betting numbers were included, with NFL betting of course being king that week. On Thanksgiving Day, there were some electric games on the schedule, of course including the showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders.

While people all over New York love the Giants/Jets and hate the Cowboys, they surely put down a lot of money on that contest between Dallas and Washington. In that game, the Cowboys were able to dominate their NFC East rivals, with quarterback Dak Prescott putting on a show. Not only that, but the Packers were able to stun the Lions, which probably meant a lot of revenue for New York since it was such a big upset.

Don’t forget about the night game between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers. That was a massive NFC West showdown, with people checking the NFL betting odds throughout the day to see which side would be favored. The 49ers ended up putting together a dominant win, which a lot of people loved seeing. The fact that New York posted more than $500 million for online wagers in a week is incredible. We expect the numbers for this month to be high too.

College Football Playoff betting will be tremendous for New York

One thing to keep in mind this time of year is that College Football Playoff betting will be tremendous for New York. On Sunday afternoon, it was announced that the four-team field would be made up of No. 1 Michigan, No. 2 Washington, No. 3 Texas and No. 4 Alabama. Plenty of sports fans are furious that Florida State, the ACC champions, was left out of the College Football Playoff despite going undefeated.

Now, though, we’re all going to be following the NCAAF betting odds closely, as there are two juicy lineups on the way in the semifinals. First off, Michigan vs. Alabama is incredible. Michigan took down Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game, while Alabama stunned former No. 1 team Georgia in the SEC title game. With that win over Georgia, Nick Saban and Co. were able to lock in their trip to the CFP.

“It was a tough night,” Coach Saban said of Alabama earning the No. 4 spot. “I didn’t sleep a lot because there’s a lot of good teams out there. Florida State is certainly a good team and to go undefeated in their league – it’s unfortunate that some good teams had to get left out, but I really think that our team earned the right to be here.”

As for Washington and Texas, these are two powerhouses who also won their conference titles. Washington will be relying on the strong left arm of Michael Penix Jr., while running back Dillon Johnson has looked like one of the best offensive playmakers in recent weeks. If Washington can take down Texas, it will set a showdown vs. either Alabama or Michigan in the National Championship Game. We expect a lot of people in New York to put down a ton of money on that contest when it comes.

New York sports betting is looking to make history to close out 2023

With the way things have been going, New York sports betting is looking to make history to close out 2023. Thus far, this has been one of the best years for New York in terms of the betting handle. When New York betting was first legalized, officials had a feeling that everything in New York would go smoothly.

However, did we ever expect these kinds of numbers? Surely, no one could have thought that more than $500 million would be posted in a single week. This is providing a ton of revenue as well for the state, which is great for so many different areas around New York. As incredible as things were in November, we could see even bigger stats for December because of the NFL and college football being so popular.

While the Giants and Jets have disappointed with terrible play, that doesn’t take away from the fact that people are going to be focused on the NFL with the postseason right around the corner. While we’re still waiting for the official betting handle for November, it’s safe to assume that December is going to be impressive too. Soon enough, the 2023 total will be posted and there’s no reason to believe it won’t be arguably the best year ever for New York.
