When taking a look at Washington state sports betting news, there’s no question that plenty of people are going to have a lot of focus on football. In particular, the NFL is going to draw a lot of attention, as people love the Seattle Seahawks. Moving forward, though, Pete Carroll is no longer the head coach. Having said that, NFL betting in Washington went up thanks to the Mike Macdonald hire that was made not long ago.
In case you missed it, Carroll and the Seahawks parted ways last month and then Seattle made the move to hire Macdonald to take his place. Macdonald did incredible things with the Baltimore Ravens, helping the AFC North side capture the No. 1 seed in the AFC for the playoffs. However, the Ravens lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game. Despite that, Macdonald has people fired up over the future with the Seahawks, which has led to plenty of futures bets on the Hawks.
“Getting to know him throughout the process and the type of guy he is, he’s been a winner everywhere he’s been,” Macdonald said of the Seahawks hiring Ryan Grubb as new OC. “And I think it speaks to his football character and things that him and Kalen [Deboer] have done over time. Everywhere they’ve gone, they’ve really rebuilt the culture where they’ve been, and they’ve won immediately, having that type of growth mindset, being able to adapt to the players that he has in his scheme.”
With Macdonald and Grubb entering a new era for Seahawks football. People can’t wait to see what these two will be able to get done in the Pacific Northwest. The Seahawks don’t have the best early NFL betting odds to win the Super Bowl next year, but there’s no doubt in our mind that they’ll be in contention to win the NFC West. It will be tough to try and take down the 49ers, but Macdonald is ready to try and get the job done. We’ll see how he does in Year 1.

Super Bowl betting was strong in Washington despite the Seahawks not being in it
One thing to keep in mind here too is that Super Bowl betting was strong in Washington despite the Seahawks not being in it. Seattle didn’t even make the playoffs, which was a huge surprise. With that, it was clear that Carroll was going to be on his way out. While plenty of people were bummed that Seattle wasn’t in a position to win another ring, that didn’t stop folks from betting on the big game.
The official numbers haven’t been released yet, but a report stated numbers indeed went upward. The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers put on a show in the Super Bowl, with KC coming away with an overtime win. The 49ers had a 10-point lead, but they ended up blowing it. Plenty of people in San Francisco lost a lot of money, but luckily for Seahawks fans, they were on the other end of things.
With Seattle and San Francisco being such a strong rivalry, a big amount of Washington bets went on the Chiefs to come away with a win. With that said, people who placed either in-person bets or mobile wagers were able to cash in on Patrick Mahomes not only winning another title, but also taking home his third Super Bowl MVP honor. Mahomes was brilliant in the game and he has the Chiefs as the Super Bowl betting favorites for next season too.
Macdonald is hoping to get Seattle back on the right road in 2024, which won’t be easy. However, there are plenty of young, talented pieces for the Seahawks to work with. From a veteran standpoint, quarterback Geno Smith is going to face a ton of pressure to live up to his contract. Smith had some strong moments last season, but he also struggled. In order for the Seahawks to improve, Smith needs to deliver. Plenty of people will be ready to bet on him to bounce back too.

March Madness will be exciting for Washington State fans
As we get closer to the basketball postseason, there’s no question that March Madness will be exciting for Washington State fans. While it’s been a down year for the UW Huskies, the Washington State Cougars are having their best season in more than 10 years. As of this writing, the Cougs are in second place in the Pac-12 standings. Kyle Smith is also in the running for Coach of the Year.
WSU hasn’t been to the March Madness tournament since 2008, but there’s a solid chance they can end up sneaking in this year. Wing Myles Rice has been an inspiration for this team, as he was battling cancer not long ago. Now, though, the sharpshooter has the team in a great position to make the tournament. WSU may not have the best NCAAB betting odds to win it all, but they’ll be a team to watch in the Pac-12 Tournament as well.
