Washington Sports Betting is Prepping for a Strong MLB Season

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Opening Day is around the corner for Major League Baseball and that’s great Washington sports betting news. There are strong expectations for plenty of teams out there, of course including the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers and others. Will the Seattle Mariners, an AL West side, be able to silence their haters too? That’s what people are hoping for, as Washington sports betting is prepping for a strong MLB season.

Obviously, there are going to be countless eyes on the Mariners in 2024. In 2022, Seattle snapped a streak of more than 20 years without making the playoffs. They took down the Blue Jays in the Wild Card Round, but then couldn’t top the Houston Astros in the Divisional Round. Unfortunately, they missed out on the playoffs in 2023, which a lot of people in the area are still pretty down about. Will things be different this spring, summer and fall? We think so.

Luckily for people in the state, sports betting is legal in Washington and people have been rushing to get their futures bets in for this season. On top of that, people also will be paying close attention to star center fielder Julio Rodriguez. As of this writing, J-Rod has +1000 MLB betting odds to win AL MVP. He’s behind Aaron Judge, Juan Soto and others, but the youngster could end up winning it this year.

Rodriguez is the face of the Seattle franchise and there are high hopes for him to have his best campaign yet for the team. If Seattle wants to get back to the postseason, there’s no question that Rodriguez is going to have to be at his best and play at a high level throughout the year. It will be interesting to see what happens with J-Rod and the Mariners moving forward, but local fans will be ready to bet big on the team as soon as the season arrives, which is around the corner.

NFL betting for the Seahawks draft will be high as well

On top of MLB action throughout April, NFL betting for the Seahawks draft will be high as well. After a year where they missed out on the postseason, Seattle is going to look to retool in the NFL Draft. This is the first offseason in a while where former head coach Pete Carroll won’t have a major say in things, as he decided to step down from his post shortly after the 2023 campaign came to a close.

Now, former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald has arrived in the Pacific Northwest and he’s ready to help bring positive vibes to a new era of Seahawks football. It goes without saying, but this will include a strong upcoming draft. There are plenty of needs for the Seahawks on both sides of the ball, so it’s a bit up in the air what they plan to do with their first-round pick.

Regardless of that, though, people are checking the NFL betting odds religiously to see which players might be making their way to Lumen Field. Geno Smith is set to start at quarterback next season, but there’s been plenty of buzz that Seattle could look to bring in a long-term replacement. We don’t anticipate Seattle moving into the Top 3 to try and land Caleb Williams, Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels.

However, one name to keep an eye on would be former University of Washington standout Michael Penix Jr. Penix is coming off an unreal season for UW, powering the Huskies to a Pac-12 title and a trip to the National Championship Game. Washington lost to Michigan in that title game, but Penix was able to skyrocket his draft stock because of his strong play in the College Football Playoff. He very well could end up playing for Seattle down the road.

Washington sports betting as a whole continues to be strong

In a positive for the state and its officials, Washington sports betting as a whole continues to be strong. In-person betting has seen a rise in numbers and the addition of some sportsbooks in nearby casinos in Seattle has made a difference. We expect the in-person numbers to be strong, especially with March Madness betting here.

While the University of Washington isn’t going to the Big Dance, the Washington State Cougars have the No. 7 seed in their side of the bracket and they’re getting ready to take on No. 10 seed Drake in the opening round of the tournament. Kyle Smith and Co. are hoping to get the job done and move on to the Round of 32.

If that happens, then they’ll be one win away from getting to the Sweet Sixteen. That’d be a dream come true for the Cougars and a lot of fans in the state. It remains to be seen if that will end up happening or not, but the fact of the matter is that NCAAB betting will be on the rise over the next few weeks. Washington State’s team will be a big reason for that, no question.
