The 2026 World Cup group stage is set to kick off on June 11th, with the biggest tournament in history set to take over the USA, Canada and Mexico for the best part of six weeks. That means huge betting opportunities for bettors, but what are the World Cup group stage best bets?

Bookmakers will be offering an abundance of markets throughout the tournament, with the group stage running from June 11th until June 28th, and there will be some tremendous value available for some of the top teams, as well as some of the dark horses who are ready to push to make history.

Group A

Group A consists of one of the home nations in Mexico, Czech Republic, South Korea, and South Africa, and has a great betting opportunity when it comes to the Group winner.

Mexico will enter the group as favorites because of their status as a home nation, and the advantages that come with that. But they are not the best team in their group, and the odds don’t reflect that. Czech Republic are a solid defensive unit, and have got top quality players like Tomas Soucek, Patrick Schick, and Adam Hlozek.

At +333 to win the group, Czech are a great value bet. If you want even more value, backing the forecast for Czech and Mexico to finish as the top two at +700 is even better.

Group B

Group B will see Canada play on home soil against Switzerland, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Qatar. Switzerland are considered to be one of the dark horses in the tournament, with several top players competing in major leagues around the world.

Controlling the midfield is one of their big strengths, and in the hot climate that is expected, that could be key to slowing down the pace of the game and staying fresher than their opponents.

They will be expecting to reach the knockout stages comfortably, and they should win the group. Meanwhile, Qatar have never won a World Cup game, and they are by far the weakest team in the group, meaning them finishing bottom of the group looks likely.

Group C

The record winners Brazil enter the tournament in Group C, in a group that is expected to be quite competitive. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are the heavy favorites to finish ahead of Morocco, Scotland, and Haiti, but the run of the fixtures means that there is a good opportunity for Morocco to finish second.

Morocco will face Brazil first, followed by a game with Scotland, and then play minnows Haiti last. If they need a result in the final game, they’ll secure it. The forecast looks like a great value bet as a result.

Scotland, on the other hand, are their biggest competition for the runners-up spot. Led by Scott McTominay and John McGinn, a single win should be enough for them to secure a spot in the knockout rounds thanks to the new format, and with them being heavy favorites against Haiti, they will be confident of securing that victory.

Group D

The USA face a tough group in their home World Cup tournament this summer, as they take on Turkey, Paraguay, and Australia, who will all be looking to secure a spot in the knockout rounds.

While the USMNT will have an advantage by playing at home, Turkey have got a remarkable squad with the likes of Arda Guler, Kenan Yildiz, and Hakan Calhanoglu, and they will feel that they are the team best-placed to secure top spot. Considering the value at +185, it’s worth a bet.

Elsewhere, Paraguay’s defensive record in qualifying saw them earn their spot, and if they carry that into the tournament they will be very difficult to beat. Australia are no whipping boys, but they will feel confident of getting a win over the Socceroos, and that should be enough for Paraguay to qualify for the next round.

Group E

Group E’s odds suggest that Germany will waltz to victory against Ecuador, Ivory Coast, and Curacao this summer, but the games will not be as easy as is being made out.

The Germany squad is nowhere near as strong as it has been in previous generations, while key players such as Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala are coming off disappointing campaigns at club level. Ecuador had one of the best defensive records in World Cup qualifying, and the Ivory Coast have got a host of exciting forwards in their squad, such as Amad Diallo and Yan Diomande.

Julian Nagelsmann’s squad is likely to have enough to finish top, but Ecuador are likely to be closer than many think, which leaves great value on them to finish second in the group.

Group F

Arguably the toughest group of them all, the Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, and Tunisia will all compete with each other in the Group of Death. Ronald Koeman’s side were able to name a very strong squad with limited injuries to key players, and their defence looks very strong on paper. Add to that the attacking quality they have with the likes of Memphis Depay, Cody Gakpo, and Donyell Malen, and they’re rightly the favorites to win the group.

But chasing them will be two very well-organised teams who have plenty of individual quality among them, in Japan and Sweden. That makes Tunisia getting enough points to finish above any of them hard to see, and the African nation are favorites to be bottom of the pile, with the -110 price showing solid value.

Group G

Group G is one of the weaker groups on paper, and it could be one of the groups where the team finishing third does not reach the next round.

Belgium are by far the strongest team in the mix, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Thibaut Courtois, Youri Tielemans, and Jeremy Doku. They will have more than enough to win the group ahead of Egypt, Iran, and New Zealand, who will all be competing among themselves for points, which could see some low-scoring games and tense affairs to be able to avoid defeat, rather than going all out for a victory.

Group H

Group H may be the easiest group to predict considering the teams involved, and the difference in squad depth and quality. Spain are the reigning European champions currently, and despite the likelihood of being without Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams for a few games, they should still have more than enough to win the group.

Uruguay will undoubtedly be their toughest competition, with their high-energy and defensive style having the potential to cause problems. Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde make up the group, and neither will have enough to cause the top sides any issues at all.

Group I

One of the strongest groups in the tournament will see France, Norway, Senegal, and Iraq go toe-to-toe, in what should be a very entertaining set of fixtures.

France are the heavy favorites to go all the way in the tournament, and with the incredible squad that they have available they should win the group at a canter. But behind them, Norway and Senegal will have a great rivalry with two strong squads who are ready to perform at the highest level.

Erling Haaland’s quality and Martin Odegaard’s leadership should see the European side finish in second, but there is also good value in Senegal qualifying to the knockout stages, and both bets look strong.

Group J

Argentina will begin the defense of their World Cup trophy as part of Group J alongside Algeria, Austria, and newcomers Jordan. Lionel Messi and co. won the tournament back in 2022, and they’ll be looking to become the first team to win consecutive tournaments since Brazil in 1958 and 1962.

They will almost certainly win the group, but the value comes from African giants Algeria finishing behind them and earning automatic qualification ahead of Austria, with bookies pricing them up at +240. They’ll be more used to the climate, have quality players in the squad, and a favourable schedule, so it’s a very good value bet.

Group K

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal will enter the World Cup in Group K this summer, in what will be the legendary forward’s final attempt at glory on the biggest stage of them all. They’ll be coming up against Colombia, Uzbekistan and DR Congo, and with the strength of their squad, they should cruise to a top spot.

But behind them, Colombia have got a strong squad too and are defensively sound, which makes the chances of falling to an upset against two lesser sides unlikely. The straight forecast bet is priced at +100, and looks like an easy win on paper.

Group L

England are one of the tournament favorites heading into the competition this summer, and rightly so. Thomas Tuchel’s squad is stacked with talent all over the pitch, and with the experience of players like Harry Kane, they are expected to finish in top spot.

Croatia and Ghana will be vying for the second-place position behind them, but the European outfit have got the stronger squad, and with the quality of Luka Modric, Ivan Perisic and Josko Gvardiol through the spine of the team they should have enough to secure it.

Ghana will still expect to defeat Panama, however, and that victory could well be enough to secure a place in the next round anyway.
