  • The World Cup is the big topic in soccer betting, and that has seen some movement in the tournament outright betting as a result.
  • Spain remain the favorites, but once again their price is shifting around from week to week. They have been bouncing around between +450 and +500, and this week they have shortened to +463 with some bookies. France have reached the last two finals, but now have seen their price jump from +450 in some places to as high as +600.
  • Spain’s squad announcement was rather shocking too, with Dean Huijsen, Robin Le Normand, and Dani Carvajal all absent, leaving them with no Real Madrid players for the first time ever. There are also doubts over the fitness of key players Lamine YamalNico Williams, and Rodri, so the price is worth keeping an eye on.
  • Portugal’s odds have dropped to around +900 with some bookies, from +1200 a few weeks ago, with plenty of interest in how Cristiano Ronaldo and co will perform. They have lots of players in top form, with Joao Neves, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Goncalo Ramos part of PSG’s Champions League winning squad.
  • The Netherlands were priced at +2500 with some bookies last week. but after an algorithm predicted them to win the competition for the first time, they have since dropped to +2200. That is despite the likes of Jeremie Frimpong, Matthijs De Ligt, Kees Smit, Sven Botman, Stefan De Vrij, and Joshua Zirkzee being left out of the squad.
  • Holders Argentina have seen their price lengthen in the last week, going from +900 to +1000, amid concerns over Lionel Messi’s fitness after an injury while playing for Inter Miami.
  • Despite the MLS being paused ahead of the World Cup, there has been some movement in the outright market.
  • Inter Miami remain the favorites, but have seen their price lengthen from +300 to +350 in the last week, while Nashville have also lengthened from +900 to +1000 in the same time frame, despite sitting top of the standings with 10 wins from their 14 games so far this season.

Transfers, trades and roster moves impacting odds

The transfer market is heating up after the major domestic campaigns ended, and ahead of countries flying out to the USA, Mexico, and Canada for the World Cup tournament.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has announced that he will appoint Jose Mourinho as the club’s next manager should he win the presidential election this month, while he has also confirmed the signing of outgoing Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer, following the expiration of his contract.

Denzel Dumfries is also set to move to the Bernabeu, with his €20m release clause being triggered.

Liverpool also shocked everyone when they announced the sacking of manager Arne Slot, despite having heavily backed him publicly in the final weeks of the season. He has been replaced by Andoni Iraola, who looked to be on the verge of a move to Bayer Leverkusen, with the Spaniard signing a two-year contract at Anfield.

A number of clubs had been looking at Iraola as a potential option, and will now be forced to look elsewhere. Crystal Palace had been one of the most interested clubs, and now look set to appoint RC Lens boss Pierre Sage, with the market moving him to a -500 favorite.

Celtic are also looking at who could be their next manager, and former striker Robbie Keane has emerged as the -143 favorite, while title-winning boss Martin O’Neill is considered to be a +200 second favorite.

Fulham have confirmed that Marco Silva will leave the club after five years when his contract expires, and he is set to join Benfica on a three-year deal. The Cottagers are now looking for a replacement, with several big names linked. Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is considered the favorite at +175, while former Tottenham boss Thomas Frank has been priced at +300Arne Slot is also understood to be a target, with the Dutchman priced as a +1400 outsider to make an immediate return to the Premier League.

Man City are yet to officially confirm Enzo Maresca as Pep Guardiola’s replacement, but speculation continues to mount about where the legendary coach may end up next. The Italian national team job is currently priced as a +225 favorite, with England’s top job priced at +250.

In the transfer market there are major question marks over the future of Marcus Rashford, after Barcelona decided to prioritise other attacking reinforcements. The England international is +225 to stay at Man Utd this summer, although reports state that seems unlikely. Barcelona are +350 favorites if he is to move on, while Tottenham Hotspur are priced at +450 to convince him to join a new Premier League side. Bayern Munich have also been linked, but are considered to be +700 outsiders.

It’s also been reported that Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea this summer, with the Blues slapping a £120m asking price on his head. Man City have been linked with a move, with Enzo Maresca believed to be keen on a reunion, and they are priced at +800, having been +250 just a week ago. While Real Madrid is said to be his dream destination, and they are priced at +300, shortened from +400. He remains priced at -250 to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Futures market check

  • Harry Kane has publicly admitted that he feels he is a contender to win the Ballon d’Or this season after his record-breaking season with Bayern Munich, and the bookies agree. The England captain is priced as low as +200 in some places, or as high as +250 in others. Should he be part of a World Cup winning side, that will almost certainly drop even more.
  • Declan Rice has seen his odds fluctuate in recent weeks. At one point the midfielder was as short as +350, and then went out as wide as +1200. Now, Rice is priced at +700, having been +500 just a week ago. Ousmane Dembele is Kane’s closest competition for the award, priced at +350, a drop from +450 following his goal in PSG’s Champions League final win.
  • Outright prices for the next Premier League season have also been released, with Arsenal the +150 favorites to retain the title for the first time in their history, while Man City have drifted out to +350 from +250 since Pep Guardiola’s exit was announced.
  • Following the completion of the 2025/26 Champions League final, odds for the 2026/27 tournament have been released, and PSG have been priced up as +500 favorites to make it a three-peat. Bayern Munich are second favorites at +600, while beaten finalists Arsenal are third at +700.

Betting trends we’re watching this month

There are set to be plenty of big moves in the betting markets over the coming weeks, with the World Cup due to begin, and eyes turning towards next season and the transfer market.

  • Chelsea will have the advantage of a limited schedule under Xabi Alonso next season, and that will give them an advantage when it comes to fighting to finish inside the top four. Initially priced at +125 to succeed, the price has shortened slightly to +120 since last week, showing that there is interest in the market.
  • Manchester United were priced at +750 outsiders to win the Premier League title for the first time since 2013 last week, but the legendary former midfielder’s form since taking over has seen them backed down to +650..
  • With the World Cup set to begin, the race for the Golden Boot is also one to take a look at. Kylian Mbappe is the +600 favorite to win the award, having won it in 2022 and scored 12 goals in 14 games across two tournaments. Kane has moved out to +800 to be the tournament’s top scorer and is the second favorite.
  • There is still incredible value on Erling Haaland, priced at a huge +1500, to win the Golden Boot at the World Cup, out from +1400 last week. Norway are expected to qualify for the knockout stages, meaning he will have at least four games to run up a tally.
