At the tender age of 18, Lamine Yamal is seen by many as Spain’s key player at this year’s World Cup, a competition in which Spain remain the favourites to win, with MyBookie
pricing them at +550.
Strongly regarded as the heir to Lionel Messi’s throne at Barcelona, the right winger is known for dribbling, creativity and pace. Similarly to Messi, Yamal is left footed despite playing on the right, and is known for his trademark cut in from the right.

A standout player during Spain’s Euro 2024 win and a key part of the Spain squad travelling to the World Cup, Yamal has been sidelined since late April with a Hamstring injury.
With positive signals coming out regarding his fitness, fans across the world will be hoping to see Yamal in action this summer in what could be his breakout tournament.
We take a closer look at the key props that could define his summer, from goals and assists to Young Player Award and Golden Ball markets. For the wider tournament picture, start with our main World Cup betting guide and our latest World Cup betting odds.

What are Lamine Yamal World Cup player props?
Lamine Yamal World Cup player props are betting markets focused on Yamal’s individual performance rather than Spain’s final result. These can include goals, assists, shots on target, score-or-assist markets, Young Player Award odds, Golden Ball odds, and tournament-long leader markets. For a broader breakdown of these markets, see our guide to World Cup prop bets.
The best Yamal props to watch will depend on his fitness, Spain’s lineup, opponent strength, and whether the market is for one match or the full tournament. Match props are usually more sensitive to starting role and minutes, while tournament props depend more on how deep Spain go.
Goals, goals, goals
Yamal had enjoyed a strong season at Barcelona as they retained the La Liga title for a second time running. He scored 24 goals in 45 appearances this season, giving him an average of 0.63 goals per 90 minutes.
Off the back of his strongest season at Barcelona to date, Yamal is currently ranked as third favourite to win the Golden Boot this summer, with BetOnline ranking him at +2000. You can compare that market in more detail in our World Cup Golden Boot odds guide.
He is behind Kylian Mbappe at +600 and Harry Kane at +700.
Yamal the creator
And he’s not just finishing chances. Yamal is considered one of Barcelona and Spain’s main creators, notching up 17 assists for the Catalan giants this season, recording 0.44 Assists Per 90′. His role as a creator has also been prominent with Spain, recording 11 assists in his 25 appearances to date.
The assists market reflects that creativity. Yamal is among the favourites to finish the tournament as the leading assist provider, with odds of around +1400 on BetNow. He is joined near the top of the market by Germany’s Florian Wirtz (+1600) and England’s Jude Bellingham (+1600).
All round player
Yamal is both an elite scorer and top tier creator. For those eagle eyed fans looking for additional value in the props market, a score or assist play on a game by game basis presents a great opportunity for value. As a reminder, Yamal finished the season with 24 goals and 17 assists in 45 club appearances this season.
For a similar prop play, look no further than shots on target. Lamine Yamal came in strong this season, with an average of 4.5 shots per game in La Liga.
Golden ball?
Outside of Spain winning the World Cup, the biggest honour at play is the Golden Ball, the award presented to the best player of the tournament. Yamal finished as the runner up to Ousmane Dembélé in this year’s Ballon d’Or, and will be hoping to go one step further this summer.
The Golden Ball markets are shaping up in a similar fashion to the top scorer race. Yamal is currently ranked on BetOnline as the second favourite, with odds of +800. Kylian Mbappe sits ahead of him in the market at around +700, while Harry Kane is also priced at +800.
With Mbappe and Kane both favoured for their goal scoring abilities, the smart play may be Yamal, with a proven record for assists and goals, playing for the team most favoured to go all the way to the final.

Young player award the smart play?
Despite being a star man for both club and country, Lamine Yamal is still only 18 years of age and will qualify to compete for the Young Player Award. As expected, he is the current favourite to take the crown at this year’s tournament, with Bovada pricing him at +175.
A youth prodigy
If Yamal can claim the prestigious award, it will be yet another victory, in an already prestigious career. Lamine broke into the Barcelona first team at the tender age of 15 years and 291 days, becoming the youngest ever first team starter. He continued setting records, becoming the youngest ever La Liga scorer in October 2023.
He made his debut for the Spanish senior team in that same season, featuring in a Euro 2024 qualifier against Georgia. As has become routine, the match saw him become Spain’s youngest-ever player and youngest goalscorer, in a 7–1 victory.
Euro 2024 proved to be yet another competition in which Yamal took every record available. He became the youngest player ever to appear at a European Championship, the youngest player to score and assist, and the youngest player to appear in the knockout stages. His goal against France in the Semi Finals saw him become the youngest goalscorer in European Championship history, breaking a record that had stood since 1958.
As expected Yamal took the Young Player of the tournament award, as Spain claimed victory with a 2-1 win against England in Berlin.
Who is he up against this summer?
Despite being the favourite, Yamal there are still questions over Yamal’s fitness. The first step will be proving to De la Fuente that he is ready to start.
Luckily for Yamal, Spain are also favorites to win the tournament, so there is expectation that there should be enough game time to prove himself.
The PSG and France duo Désiré Doué and Warren Zaïre-Emery look set to provide the biggest opposition to Yamal claiming the crown. Both players are in contention to start in a France squad that is expected to go deep in the tournament, with Doué priced at +500 and Zaïre-Emery at +1200 in the Young Player Award market.
Outside of France & Italy, there has been talk of Manchester City starlet Nico O’rilley, but it is yet to been seen if he will start for Thomas Tuchel’s England. Real Madrid star Arda Gula has also been in the conversation, but may well be limited by how far Turkey can go.
Is Lamine Yamal playing in the World Cup 2026?
Lamine Yamal is expected to be part of Spain’s World Cup 2026 plans if fit, but his hamstring injury makes availability one of the key betting angles on this page. For Yamal props, selection is only step one. Bettors also need to know whether he starts, how many minutes he is likely to play, and whether Spain manage his workload in the group stage.

With the World Cup on the horizon, Yamal’s injury has made his fitness one of Spain’s biggest talking points. If Luis de la Fuente includes Yamal in his final 26-man squad, he should be in line for a major attacking role, but bettors should still check his match fitness, starting status, and expected minutes before backing his props.
Recent training footage has shown Yamal working through his recovery, but bettors should wait for confirmed team news before assuming he will start Spain’s opening match. A player can be fit enough for the squad and still be managed carefully for minutes.
Luis de la Funete was quoted as expressing confidence in Yamal’s fitness for the opening game against Cabo Verde on June 15th:
Sports Illustrated reported that Luis de la Fuente was optimistic about Yamal’s fitness, while also stressing caution around his return. He was quoted as saying: “I believe he’ll be ready for the first match, and we hope he can live up to expectations, but without putting undue pressure on him.”
For prop bettors, the key point is not just whether Yamal is in the squad. It is whether he starts, plays 90 minutes, or is eased back with managed minutes.
How injury may affect props?
Whilst Yamal remains a strong contender across all major markets, his injury status will have a major impact on how his props play out.
Minutes played
Goals and assists are heavily dependent on minutes played. Put simply, the more minutes Yamal gets, the more likely he is to rack up the stats. This is particularly pertinent in the group stage, where favourites Spain will be facing much weaker opposition, offering much better opportunities to rack up the goals, assists and shots.
Spain are currently 2nd in the Fifa Rankings. They will face Cabo Verde, ranked 69th, and Saudi Arabia, ranked 61st. A fully fit Yamal would no doubt see these games as ample opportunities to get his name on the scoresheet.
As we move into the knockouts, teams traditionally focus on avoiding defeat, leading to tighter games and less goals. Should he only feature in the knockout phase, Yamal can expect to face much tougher opponents, in much tighter games, putting him at a significant disadvantage in the goal and assist rankings.
Will he be match fit?
World Cup history is littered with examples of players being forced to play, despite being injured. See Ronaldo in the 1998 final versus France, or Wayne Rooney’s sloppy performance in 2006 after being rushed back from a serious foot injury.
After a long season of European football, match fitness often dictates player performance. Even if De La Fuente declares Yamal ready to start, there is no guarantee he will be match sharp.
Should Yamal prove himself to be off the pace, despite being fit, we will likely see him being dropped to the bench and eased into the tournament with substitute appearances.

How Spain’s tournament run affects Yamal props
Football is a team game, so Yamal prop outcomes are almost entirely dependent on how Spain plays in the tournament?
Route to the final
The first and most obvious factor is how far Spain can go in the tournament? Luckily for Yamal, Spain remain the tournament favourites, with Bovada pricing them at +550 to lift the trophy.
They have been drawn against Cabo Verde, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in Group H, and are currently ranked as strong favourites to top the group, with Bovada pricing them at -275.
Should they top the group, the likely opponents are Argentina, Austria, Jordan or Algeria. They would likely avoid the hardest opponent, Argentina, who are also currently ranked as favourites for their group at -200 with Bovada.
Spain would then meet Croatia or Colombia in the Round of 16 before facing Belgium or hosts USA in the quarter-finals. Spain will fancy their chances against all of these opponents, leading to a potential semi-final with France, currently ranked as the second favourites for the tournament at +650.
A run to the semi-finals should provide enough game time for a fully fit Yamal to excel in all the key prop markets.
How will Spain set up?
De la Fuente led Spain to Glory at Euro 2024 with a new look Spain team, playing attacking football. They finished the tournament at the top goalscorers with 15 goals, winning all of their seven games.
We can expect Spain to play a similar style of football this summer, favouring attacking fluency and possession over a defensive outlook.
Teams facing Spain will likely employ a low block, sitting in deep defense with a view to limiting space for their attacking options. A similar tactic is deployed in La Liga against Barcelona and will be no surprise to Yamal and co.
Lamine’s role?
Lamine Yamal played in all seven of Spain’s Euro 2024 wins, starting 6 and being rested for the final group game against Albania after Spain had already qualified.
Should Yamal be fit, we should expect him to play a similarly starring role in 2026. De la Fuente sees him as a key component of attack.
Can Yamal win the Golden Ball?
Having delivered European glory in 2024 at the age of 16, Lamine Yamal will surely be unfazed by the upcoming World Cup.
Should he be able to prove his fitness, and that’s a big ‘if’, then Yamal slots into a Spain side that are the favourites to win the Tournament.
He has recently finished his best season yet with Barcelona, scoring 24 goals and 17 assists in 45 appearances.
This form is mirrored with Spain, where he has racked up 11 assists in 25 appearances. De la Fuente naturally views him as a key player, and will no doubt start the 18 year old if fit.
If Spain can go far in the tournament, which is very likely, then there is no reason why a match fit Yamal cannot win the golden ball.
His current ranking as the second favourite feels completely justified… as long as he stays fit!
Here are the current odds:
Kylian Mbappé — +650
Lamine Yamal — +650
Harry Kane — +700
Michael Olise — +1000
Lionel Messi — +1200

Responsible gambling
World Cup player props can be fun, but they are still betting markets with risk. Set a budget before betting, avoid chasing losses, and do not bet more because of hype around one player. If Yamal’s injury status or starting role is unclear, waiting for team news is often smarter than forcing a bet early.
