In 2022, the Gujarat Titans and the Lucknow Super Giants were both added to the Indian Premier League after it expanded from eight to ten teams. Gujarat did the unthinkable last year in their opening season, and won the whole competition. This year, Lucknow will be eyeing up the title, and the top cricket betting sites think they have a very good chance replicating what Gujarat did last season.

Latest Betting to win the 2023 IPL
Along with the Rajasthan Royals, the Lucknow Super Giants are the +400 joint favorites to win the 2023 IPL. The two sides have now replaced the pre-season favorites – Gujarat – at the top of the betting. For their part, the Gujarat Titans are now third in the betting at +450.
The Titans’ odds haven’t changed much, as they started the season at +375 favorites. It’s more the odds on the Super Giants and the Royals that have shortened, after both franchises got off to impressive starts.
Elsewhere, and the Chennai Super Kings are big movers up the betting. MS Dhoni’s franchise started out as ninth favorites at +900. The Super Kings are now into +650 after two wins from four matches.
Heading in the wrong direction are RCB and the Delhi Capitals. The Challengers started the tournament at +650, and they are now out to +900. As for the Delhi Capitals, they have gone from +600 second favorites, to +4000. This leaves the Capitals a distant last in the betting.
The side led by David Warner have lost four from four so far this season. They will be looking for their first win of the 2023 season in the early match on Saturday, where they take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Super Giants looking for fourth win of the season
The Super Giants have had South African wicket-keeper batter Quinton de Kock available for a couple of matches now. But rather than select the explosive opener, they have stuck with the KL Rahul/Kyle Mayers opening combination that started the season well before de Kock arrived from South Africa.
Mayers didn’t manage a single run in the Super Giants massive run chase win over RCB in their last outing. And with the whole side perhaps needing a reshuffle to accommodate de Kock, he might have to continue to wait to get his chance in the 2023 IPL.
One of the main reasons that the Super Giants are now joint favorites to win the 2023 title is the form of Mark Wood. The English quick bowler is having an outstanding IPL, and at the moment he has 9 wickets from his three matches.

Wood looks happy and in a good place. And in this form, the Super Giants know they have a star performer who can cause plenty of damage to opposition batting line ups.
Two defeats in a row for the Kings
As for the Punjab Kings, after a flying start that saw them win their opening two matches, they have now lost their last two. Thursday’s defeat to the Gujarat Titans was closer than the six wickets sounds, but it was still a loss.
At the start of the season, coach Trevor Bayliss and captain Shikhar Dhawan, probably would have accepted two wins from four at this stage. But after starting with two straight wins, the Kings management might now be starting to get itchy feet.
The Kings do have match winners like Dhawan and Sam Curran in their ranks. But the team is more accustomed to being in the lower half of the table. Meaning Bayliss and Dhawan might be starting to worry that the squad might accept this is how it is with the Kings.
Super Giants vs Kings Betting and Picks
In the betting to win the match, the Lucknow Super Giants are -125 on the moneyline, with the Punjab Kings at +100. The odds are slightly closer than we thought they would be, but they are probably more reflective of how the Kings have performed in their opening two wins.
For us, we have to go with the Lucknow Super Giants as our pick to win the match. They’re coming into the match on the back of two wins, whilst the Kings are on a losing streak of two. The Giants also have home advantage, and Mark Wood is flying at the moment.
