It has been a wild offseason for Major League Baseball, with some of the top names in the game finding new homes. With that said, there’s also going to be plenty of surprise squads in 2023 who will be ready to put on a show from start to finish this campaign. Who will end up winning it all? In this article, we have our MLB futures picks for the 2023 season. Will this be the year where the Bronx Bombers get over the hump?
Yankees are the favorites to win the World Series
Heading into the new season, and keep in mind that a lot can change, the Yankees are the favorites to win the World Series. This isn’t a major surprise, as Brian Cashman did a fantastic job improving this team in the past couple of months. Obviously, bringing back Aaron Judge was a huge victory for the front office. The new AL home run single-season king almost left in free agency, as just about every team wanted him.
However, the Yankees were able to bring him back on a monster extension, which relieved so many fans out there. Not only that, but the Yankees improved their starting rotation, bringing in Carlos Rodon. Him and Gerrit Cole together is going to be bad news for the rest of the bigs, especially the American League East. Rodon was one of the top free agents out there and Cashman was able to get things done.

Yankees to win | +650 | +650 | +650 | +650 |
Mets to win | +800 | +800 | +800 | +800 |
Astros to win | +900 | +900 | +900 | +900 |
Dodgers to win | +950 | +950 | +950 | +950 |
The Yankees aren’t the only strong contenders out there, as the Astros, Dodgers, Mets, Braves, Phillies and more are going to be hungry to try and make a big-time splash next fall. Look out for the Seattle Mariners too, as they’re a young team with a lot of talent. They locked up Julio Rodriguez on a new contract as well, and the club’s supporters couldn’t be more excited about his future in Seattle.
According to the best-rated sportsbooks, the Yankees hold +650 MLB betting odds to win it all. Close behind them with World Series betting odds are the Astros and Mets. Houston has taken care of business against the Yankees in the AL playoffs in recent years, but we have a feeling this is the season that Judge and Co. are able to get over the top. We’re going with the Yankees as our pick to win the World Series.
Aaron Judge earns AP's Male Athlete of the Year. The New York Yankees outfielder set an American League record with 62 home runs.

Mets are the favorites to win the National League
Elsewhere in New York, the team from Queens has high expectations for the new season, as the Mets are the favorites to win the National League. With the Mets, everyone is waiting to see what will end up happening with star shortstop Carlos Correa. Originally, Correa was headed to the San Francisco Giants, but concerns over his physical caused for things to be delayed and eventually, he agreed to terms with NYM.
However, the Mets have also been concerned over his injury history, which has once again caused a delay in him putting the pen to paper. The Mets had previously made a huge splash by signing Justin Verlander to a huge two-year contract, and now the fans want the middle of the infield to improve with Correa. The assumption is that things can be made official in the coming weeks, which will be key.
The oddsmakers also have a strong belief that the Mets can win the NL, as they’ve been given +400 MLB betting odds to do so. However, the Dodgers are always going to be a dangerous club, as they’re loaded with talent. Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman are going to do everything possible to help LA take down the Mets. While the Dodgers will surely make things interesting, we think a special year is on the way in Queens. We’re going with the Mets as our pick to win the NL in 2023.

A Yankees-Mets World Series very well could be on the way
When looking at the bigger picture, a Yankees-Mets World Series very well could be on the way this upcoming season. Only once before has a ‘Subway Series’ taken place for fans to enjoy, but boy was it memorable. The Yankees ended up winning that World Series and the supporters are hoping that history can repeat itself. The Mets will surely make things interesting if we get this final series, though.
In addition to Correa (signing TBD) and Verlander, this team also features Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor, Max Scherzer and more. Those are some high-quality players and they have dreams of helping the Mets get back to the Fall Classic. It would obviously bring huge ratings too, as New York is a huge market for baseball fans. Judge would love nothing more than to silence his cross-town rivals.
With Opening Day less than three months away, the intrigue for the new season really is at a high level. The Yankees and Mets will want to create some buzz, but there’s so many other teams who will want to take them down. We can’t wait for the first game of the season for everyone to enjoy.
