Online Sports Betting in Maryland Didn’t Arrive for the NFL Start

For everyone who has been a fan of Maryland sports betting, things were expected to get even better for them at the start of the month. Per multiple reports, the lawmakers in the state were working on getting online betting options in place for the start of the football season. Now, though, online sports betting in Maryland didn’t arrive for the NFL start, and people are beyond angry with that result.

The fact that the online betting deal didn’t get pushed through in time for the start of the football campaign is a big bummer. With this, there’s no denying that the state is losing out on more revenue. Yes, people can still make legal sports bets on the NFL and college football inside of the state through authorized locations. However, countless more bets would be able to push through if online was an option.

Rather than having to drive to a spot to make a bet, being able to do so through an online tablet or your mobile phone (even your laptop) would open up so many more doors for people. With the campaign in the swing of things, too, people are without question, checking out the best NFL betting odds consistently. They’ll make their bets in person, but there’s no question people would prefer an online option.

Looking ahead to what might happen, it’s been said that Maryland is still working on getting online betting put into place by the end of the year. What’s disappointing here, though, is that people would have loved to have been able to check the best World Series betting options this fall and then make an online bet. Unless things change in the near future, then people are going to have to wait until next year to make their online World Series wagers.

People in Maryland are betting big on the Commanders

Despite no online betting put in place just yet, people in Maryland are betting big on the Commanders to start off the new season. Week 1 couldn’t have gone much better for the NFC East team, as they were able to record a win over the rising Jacksonville Jaguars. Though Washington received a bit of a scare, former No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz made big plays late to help his team out.

Unfortunately for Washington, they ran into the Detroit Lions in Week 2 and suffered a tough road loss. Looking ahead to this weekend, the Commanders will be taking on the Eagles in what’s sure to be an exciting divisional clash. Whenever the Eagles and Commanders face off, these two NFC East sides put on quite a show. There’s also going to be plenty of talk surrounding Wentz.

This will be a revenge game for him, as the Eagles once selected him with the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Things didn’t work out for Wentz in Philly, and they ended up parting ways with him ahead of last season. Wentz spent one year with the Colts, but things didn’t go much better for him there, either. Now he’s hoping to get his career back on the right track with Washington.

He’ll look to silence his haters this weekend with a big game. If Wetnz can put on a show, then Washington will have a great chance of recording an upset win over the Eagles. People all over Maryland are going to be getting in bets for what should be a fun game. Those bets will be coming in all week, leading up to the opening kickoff for this one. The Eagles are favored, but an upset isn’t out of the question in this case.

Is there an exact date for online sports betting?

With the latest update out of Maryland, people continue to wonder if there is an exact date for online sports betting. Unfortunately for Maryland sports bettors, the answer is no. Instead, there’s a wait-and-see in terms of finding out when online sports betting will be finalized. It has been made clear by the lawmakers, though, that they’re hopeful things will get done before the NFL postseason arrives.

That will be huge on its own, as people will be checking out the Super Bowl odds as we get closer and closer to the winter. A lot of teams are ready to make a big splash, of course, including the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, and more. While Washington isn’t expected to make noise late in the season, people will still be betting on them consistently.

Things are only going to get bigger and better for sports betting in the state when the mobile option arrives. Folks are only getting more and more furious with things taking this long to be put into place. Hopefully, within the next few weeks, we’ll have an answer as to when the official online start will arrive. Until then, there’s only going to be a lot of speculation and people guessing about the date.
