MLS Betting – Real Salt Lake at Vancouver Whitecaps

Real Salt Lake (+275) at Vancouver Whitecaps (-115), Draw (+250)

If the MLS playoffs started today, both the Real Salt Lake (8-5-5) and the Vancouver Whitecaps (7-8-4) would be in the mix. But the race for the post-season is uber tight and neither team can afford a slip. Salt Lake and Vancouver will continue their post-season pushes this Wednesday at BC Place in Vancouver (10:30 PM Eastern).

The Real Salt Lake (8W-5D-5L) are in third in the Western Conference, but sit eight points below conference-leading FC Dallas. Salt Lake hve two games in hand and could cut the lead to just two points with two wins, though. Their 29 goals-for are second-best in the West, but their 28 goals-against are third-worst.

The Royals failed to make up ground on Dallas in the last few, going 0-2-1 in their last trio of games, including back-to-back 1-1 draws with the Montreal Impact and DC United. They now have just three wins in their last ten fixtures.

Vancouver currently occupy the sixth and final playoff spot in the West. They’re tied with on points with seventh-place Portland, but own the tiebreaker with the Timbers thanks to a head-to-head advantage.

The Whitecaps have 25 points through 19 matches (7-4-8). The offense has done its part, equally Salt Lake with 29 goals for. Vancouver’s problems have come on defense, allowing 33 goals on the season, second-most in the entire MLS.

Vancouver’s recent form is nothing to brag about either.  They have won just one game over their last six outings, losing three and drawing two.  They lost to the LA Galaxy (2-0 away) and drew against the Colorado Rapids (2-2 home) in their last two.

Salt Lake won the last meeting between the clubs back in April, but Vancouver had a four game winning streak in the series prior to that. Both teams have struggled to get wins recently, and a draw looks like the way to go in this one.

Pick: Draw (+250).
