Top Texas Pro Teams Have Joined to Push for Legal Sports Betting

The clock is ticking for Texas sports betting changes to potentially move forward in the near future. With optimism dwindling a little bit on whether or not things will get legalized, the proponents have received some great news in the fight to have the laws flipped. That news is that the top Texas pro teams have joined to push for legal sports betting. This is massive news and one that is giving people a ton of hope.

According to a report, the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Stars, Austin FC, Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas combined forces in a letter to voice their support for a new sports betting bill. Not only that, but the letter has made its way to lawmakers and officials. This just goes to show how serious these teams are about making something happen.

“Ultimately, the proposed measures protect Texans from the illegal, foreign sports betting market that is operating unregulated in Texas,” the letter stated according to an article from The Caller Times. “These bills provide a fair and responsible system of permitting and taxation for operators and the proposed legislation has best practices from other states that will maintain the integrity of Texas professional sports.”

The hope here is that everyone can get on the same page with a sports betting bill and leave it to Texas citizens to vote things in or not. The sports teams left and right want history to be made in the Lone Star State in the coming months. Things are starting to heat up, but no one knows how things are going to shape out. The major teams in the state want to see it happen. Only time will tell if that happens or not.

Jerry Jones wants to see NFL betting as soon as possible

When it comes to the Dallas Cowboys, it’s been known for a while that Jerry Jones wants to see NFL betting as soon as possible. For years, Jones and other Cowboys executives have been pushing for legalization, but nothing has happened. Now, though, Jones is thrilled about the possibility of betting becoming legal, especially with other pro owners backing him up as well. This could lead to things changing for the better.

“There’s a huge amount of gaming going on in and around sports at this time,” Jones said earlier this year. “And, so, to have all of the benefits or all of the control over it, it needs to be recognized and parameters put on it and discipline put in it. Then, also the benefits that go, can go in Texas, could adhere to the right kind of people, or some property tax. Certainly help educate our great state’s children. All of those things can be enhanced by something that’s presently going on in a big, big way.”

With NFL betting odds, people all over Texas would love nothing more than to place wagers on the Cowboys next season. Dak Prescott has high hopes and he’s going to want to remind people that he is better than Daniel Jones of the New York Giants. Prescott was up and down last season, which can’t be the same case for next year. Things will be different for the Cowboys now that Ezekiel Elliott is no longer with the team.

Prescott will have a ton of pressure on him, but he’s ready to deliver. Jones has built an empire. The Cowboys are known as America’s Team. They’re one of the most historic organizations in sports history, which is why Jones knows the betting popularity would be incredible. Jones is passionate about sports betting in Texas. He wants to do everything in his power to make sure people in Texas can have that option sooner than later.

People would love to be betting on the NBA playoffs right now

On top of the NFL, you already know that people would love to be betting on the NBA playoffs right now. Despite the Dallas Mavericks not being in contention for the NBA Finals anymore, the NBA betting odds are being checked consistently. The postseason just got started and there’s intrigue all over the place. The Golden State Warriors are hoping to win it all, but the Suns and Clippers look ready to deny them of that dream.

Don’t forget about the top teams in the Eastern Conference too. With that said, the future is looking bright for the Mavericks, and owner Mark Cuban is all aboard the sports betting train as well. Cuban is equally passionate as Jones when it comes to sports betting. He would love for people to be able to place bets at the stadium on game nights.

Cuban is ready to see something go down, and so are hoops fans as a whole. Right now, Cuban, Jones and the rest of the sports team owners are all in on seeing sports betting arrive. It’s time for Texas to take things seriously. The potential revenue possibilities will be monstrous for the state.
