Ohio Sports Betting Posted an Impressive Revenue Number for August

The hope when it comes to Ohio sports betting news is that the state would be able to bounce back to close out the summer. In June and July, the numbers were quite disappointing, as all the excitement from the hot start to the year for the historic change was wiped away within those two months. Thankfully, though, Ohio sports betting posted an impressive revenue number for August and the expectation is that things are only going to keep climbing throughout the football season.

It was recently announced that Ohio posted more than $39 million for the month’s total revenue. That’s not the betting handle, but the amount of money the state made from legal betting. That’s a fantastic number and one that officials should be celebrating. August was always going to be a strong month for Ohio wagers, as the MLB season was heating up for postseason races, while both the NFL and college football were back with training camps.

With Ohio flirting with $40 million for betting revenue in August, we can expect things to be far north of that number for September when the figures are released. Then for October, we can only assume that even more good news is going to be on the way. When sports betting in Ohio was made legal on Jan. 1 this year, people were over the moon in happiness. When the news was made official, people couldn’t have been happier.

The sports bets were coming in historically to start the year, speaking to the promise this new project had for the state. Despite things dropping a bit in the summer, that doesn’t mean that the future isn’t bright for sports betting in Ohio. With football, baseball and basketball here too, expectations are going to be high for the state to keep on rocking in impressive fashion, there’s no doubt about that.

Bengals slow start hasn’t had a negative impact on sports betting

Another positive for Ohio is that the Bengals slow start hasn’t had a negative impact on sports betting thus far this campaign. Entering the season, Cincinnati had strong Super Bowl betting odds and a lot of people assumed they’d cruise to an AFC North title. Instead, things have been quite rocky for them and star quarterback Joe Burrow. As of this writing, the Bengals are 2-3 on the year and in last place of the division. Who saw this coming?

Luckily for the Bengals, this team was able to post its second win of the season last Sunday, taking down the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale. In that victory, Burrow looked like his old self, showing off his rocket for an arm. The main story from the game, though, was the spectacular play of standout wide receiver JaMarr Chase. Chase had three touchdowns in the game, reminding everyone of how great he can be.

“Definitely, you could say that,” Chase said when asked if he feels like this will help the Bengals turn their season around. “We definitely needed this win. We needed that New Orleans win (last season) badly too. I just want to say we’re making the right steps forward right now. Just keep pushing and moving forward.”

This is great news for Bengals fans too, as Cincinnati still holds strong NFL betting odds to sneak into the playoffs. They might be less than .500 right now, but there’s simply too much firepower on this team for them to keep struggling on offense. People are going to keep betting big on this team to do magical things week in and week out. The Bengals will 100 percent be a team to watch the rest of the way.

College football betting is going to be sky-high this fall and winter too

It goes without saying, but college football betting is going to be sky-high this fall and winter too in Ohio. The Ohio State Buckeyes are looking like their usual selves this season, posting some incredible wins to start off the 2023 campaign. More of the same should be on the way for Ryan Day and Co. leading up to December. Ohio State is hoping to win the Big Ten this winter and make their way back to the College Football Playoff.

Because of this, Ohio State fans and alumni are going to be checking the NCAAF betting odds each week to see where the Buckeyes stand. With the heart of the conference schedule here, some fantastic rivalries will be showcased once again, which will only entice fans to put money down for those specific contests.

Ohio State is the No. 3 team in the country right now, showing that they’re in a great spot to make the CFP. Their hopes of trying to compete for a National Championship could come down to the highly-anticipated showdown with Michigan at the end of November. Obviously, countless bets will be placed on that game like every season. If the Buckeyes can win that game, it’s only going to boost their odds the rest of the way. We can’t wait for that game.
