Washington is Hoping to Add More In-Person Sportsbooks Soon

With the way Washington sports betting has been on the rise, it sure has been positive for lawmakers and officials. With that said, there’s always room for improvement. In recent months, lawsuits have been filed to try and get legal betting to be allowed off tribal casinos. Right now, sports betting activity is only allowed on those grounds. With that said, Washington is hoping to add more in-person sportsbooks soon.

When will that happen? No one knows, but according to a report, the state has seen the positives from a revenue standpoint and they’re ready to strike while the iron is hot. Again, sports betting is only allowed at tribal casinos, but we’ve seen a bunch of success for the project over the past couple of years. Not long ago, a new sportsbook made its way to the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn, not too far away from Seattle.

From the moment that sportsbook opened its doors south of Seattle, people have been going there on a consistent basis. In the downtown Seattle area, there are no tribal casinos in operation. Because of this, people in the main area of the state have to travel a little bit to place their bets. Luckily, places like Auburn aren’t too far away from Seattle, so people can make their bets on a consistent basis.

However, as things stand, there are less than 20 total in-person sportsbooks in operation. While online betting is also on the table, having access to more options is needed for Washington. This is something the state is quite aware of, and they’re working with tribal leaders to see what can be done in the near future. While no new sportsbooks being launched is imminent, this is something that could change in 2024 or 2025.

Seahawks bets are off the charts for Washington state right now

To no surprise, Seahawks bets are off the charts for Washington state right now and things will only improve over the next month. To start off October, countless wagers were placed on the Seahawks for their primetime Monday Night Football game at MetLife Stadium against the New York Giants. The Seahawks were actually underdogs, but then the line changed and they were 1.5-point favorites ahead of kickoff. That’s how the NFL betting odds can change sometimes.

In a stunning turn of events, the Seahawks, the road team, barely broke a sweat in taking down the Giants. In the 24-3 win, the defense stole the show for Pete Carroll and Co. First-round pick Devon Witherspoon was a beast in the secondary, with his night of course being highlighted by his interception of Daniel Jones, which he took back to the house for a 97-yard touchdown. It was an amazing play from the rookie.

Not only that, but everyone who bet on the over for the Seahawks sacks total will surely be laughing all the way to the bank, as Seattle finished with 11. That’s right, the Hawks posted 11 sacks of Jones in this one, which is wild to even think about. Now, the Seahawks are 3-1 on the year and their fans are loving every minute of it. If Seattle can keep playing at a high level like this, then the postseason will be in their future.

Should the Seahawks make the playoffs, that will certainly be great news for all of the sportsbooks out there in the state. People understandably love checking the Super Bowl betting odds, especially in January. The start to the campaign has been quite promising for the Seahawks and this is only going to lead to more bets coming in at the tribal casinos. All in all, football betting has been quite strong for Washington.

MLB betting will take a hit with the Mariners missing the playoffs

While most of the betting news has been positive, one downside is that MLB betting will take a hit with the Mariners missing the playoffs. Down to the final weekend of the regular season, Seattle was in the hunt to not only land a Wild Card spot, but they just missed out on winning the AL West too. Seattle needed to sweep the Texas Rangers in a four-game series to make that happen.

Unfortunately for Mariners fans, Seattle finished just one win short of that goal, taking three of four from Texas. With their loss last Saturday night and the Houston Astros winning their game against Arizona, it brought the Mariners’ postseason hopes to a close. This was a major letdown for the AL West side, as they ended their playoff drought the year before.

While plenty of people in Washington are currently checking the latest World Series betting odds for teams still in contention, those same folks wish they’d be able to bet on the Mariners this time of year. Seattle has plenty of young talent, but we’re now going to have to wait until next fall to see if they can make a return trip to the playoffs. They’re simply too good to keep blowing it this late in the campaign consistently.
