2019 NFL Player Props Best Bet: Dwayne Haskins Will Start 8 Games

  • BetOnline has set the over/under on Dwayne Haskins regular starts at 7.5
  • The No. 15-overall pick is a shoo-in to start eight games after starring at Ohio State last season
  • Haskins has drawn rave early reviews at Washington camp and faces weak competition for the starting job

With the start of the NFL season still a full summer away, there are a few future bets that I’ve been investing heavily on.

I like the Carolina Panthers to make the playoffs at +240 and maybe even win their division (+650). The Indianapolis Colts’ odds to win the AFC South (+110) almost seems like easy money. And I’m an aggressive UNDER on the 9.0 sack total for 49ers rookie defensive end Nick Bosa, given he and his brother’s extensive injury histories.

However, there is one prop that I adore more than all others. Let’s check the juicy odds at BetOnline and go over the many reasons why I’m taking the OVER on Dwayne Haskins regular season starts (7.5).

Dwayne Haskins regular season starts (7.5) – OVER

Even before Washington picked Haskins at No. 15 in the NFL Draft, there were multiple reports linking the Ohio State quarterback to the franchise. Owner Daniel Snyder was reportedly hot and heavy about the pick because Haskins went to high school with his son.

While that type of ownership meddling is never a great sign, it does show that 6-foot-3 signal caller has the full support of the organization.

Haskins played in the Buckeyes pro-style offense last year, completing 70 percent of his passes for 4,831 yards and 50 touchdown passes. NFL analyst Louis Riddick believes the 22-year-old is twice the player that RGIII was, claiming that Haskins, and not No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray, should have been the top QB taken in the draft.

Head coach Jay Gruden declared an open competition at Washington camp, and Haskins is already turning heads, impressing with his leadership, his deep ball, and most importantly, his football brain.

Facing Haskins in the Washington quarterback battle will be journeyman Colt McCoy, who is still recovering from two recent leg surgeries, and Case Keenum, who Washington acquired for a 6th Round pick after the Broncos decided they’d rather go with Joe Flacco.

While Keenum authored a miraculous 2017 season for the Vikings, he’s not exactly going to whip Skins faithful into a ticket-buying frenzy.

Even if Keenum wins the camp competition, Washington faces the Eagles, Cowboys, Bears, Giants and Patriots in the first five weeks of the season. If they’re sitting at a 1-4 record, you can already hear the fans calling into talk radio stations and demanding to see the rookie.

Barring an injury, it’s hard to see how Haskins doesn’t start at least 8 games. Bet with reckless abandon.

Player Prop Betting

Whether it is Dwayne Haskins or any other NFL player, there are always some excellent sports betting opportunities available surrounding individual players—this isn’t even specific to the NFL. Sportsbooks are always keen to provide prop bets where possible and player prop betting is probably the most common form of betting.

In terms of Player prop betting, what can you expect? Well, there are stats regarding players’ position. So, for a player like Dwayne Haskins, you can expect the stats to focus on quarterback roles. For example, yards that have been thrown in a game or season, or the number of touchdowns that player has made.

There are always some interesting player prop bets that focus on stats, but you’ll also find specials that center around certain stats and records. These are particularly popular during the postseason and Super Bowl games. Be sure to shop around your favorite bookmakers to find the best player props and value in the odds for Dwayne Haskins.
